Unfortunatly I have to agree with kingofwale on this one . True friends dont exist . At least not as we might think . There is allways something one of them can do , what can make their relation to go cold . Especially when he/she knows all your little secrets . Sometimes it starts as a joke , sometimes it may be a long-time-coming vengence , but a " best friend " relation can just as easily break , as it was made ...

Mummelmann : ouch for one of the brothers ... and Im not talking about the one in Afghanistan :P

 Friendships can easly break ... but so do every human relantionship, if friends are friends ... then they solve their problems as friends :P ...

I think that in the end ... this is a personal matter where you can't judge other people's friendships, it's like saying ...you can't have a perfect marriage 'cause i couldn't have one or

something like that.

Well true , but some problems leave a to big scar IMO . Like your best friend makes love to your mother :P ( jk ) . I know that its an extreme sittuation , but even smaller things , like he steals your gf , steals from you etc. But in the same time if he does all this hes not a true friend .... or hes a cleptomaniac o_0 Now that could be a sittuation :P

 =D that would really be a problem :D

 well ... i think it's like you said, maybe that was never a real friendship to begin with... if one does something awful to the other intentionally and just for the sake of doing damage

Not really. I have friends who have moced away and don't talk to a couple years at a time... but whenerver they come back into town we pick things up right where we left them.

The closest I can think of this is that I once had a couple friends who we used to hang out with every day who we stopped being friends with, though they both got on my nerves in the first place.

The one guy who was hardly annoying suddently decided to become a racist because he thought it was cool. I'm not even joking...

Like... one of the more annoying parts about him was he wouldn't stop playing the Will Smith and Snoop Dog men in black songs all summer before... then suddenly the next year he was a racist and was pissed at metallica for compliating with a black guy.

Which... what the hell? Eh well, he had some other annoying parts anyway.

There's no such thing as 'true friend', Humans by nature are born to focus on themselves. Sooner or later 2 people's interest will conflict with their 'friendship'.

 

Sure, it's always an awesome story to tell when you'v had a friend for 2343 years, but in truth. Most people grow apart.


And it's so great when those different interests don't interfere with friendship. True friends exist and i think it is sad not to think that way, maybe we born with the tendence to focus on ourselves ... but i think we can change that and actually a lot of people does it.

and like someone aleady said ... friendship is not defined by the time spent together ... but for the

love that exists between people


Of course we do tend to overlook/overcome our differences for the sake of keeping a friendship. But I don't believe there is such thing as "true friends" that will stay together no-matter-what.

Cynical? Maybe, but I see myself as a realist. And as a realist, I won't have to bear as much emotional baggage this way.


I may have mistyped my thoughts. By saying "true friends remain close together forever" I didn't mean friends you call over for pizza and football or just share your secrets with. I was talking about soul mates, someone you'd gladly give your life for even if you knew he / she wouldn't do the same. If you're cynical then I'm romantic but we're probably both wrong...

Just because you can't hang out with someone doesn't mean the friendship needs to end. I can only hang out with my best friend twice a year but we still talk almost every day.
