Forums - Nintendo - Pokken Tournament to be Huge Selling Game in the US? Huge Push as it Gets a place in Evo 2016 and In Pokemon Worlds!

it'll do well obviously but its hard to imagine it doing that incredibly well since its on the Wii U :/ just too small of a number of console owners

Thanks god the game releases on the 20th anniversary of Pokémon.

Should be interesting!

Though iirc, one person has to use the Wii U gamepad so that would be a bit strange :/

2 consoles, 2 TV's, No forced Gamepad screen.

It's getting a huge push. I'm expecting very good sales

OMG, EVO was big but PWC ? I'm DONE! Bandai, throw as much money as you can at the developers for Pokkén to make the roster the biggest possible by launch (or announce by that time that you plan on adding a lot of characters for free) and you'll do crazy money, Pokkén could become canon Spin-off !!!

don't underestimate Pokémon, if the game is good even a Spin-off can be a system seller...

Plus they might port it to NX :v

Its pokemon... it ll probably do fine.

That said the only fighting games that ever really said me anything, are Street fighter & killer instinct.
(mortal combat & tekken are okayish too, but dont have same appeal).

I basically dont care at all for this, pokemon game.

To me pokemon is RPGs, dont really want a fighting game with pokemon.

That would work

Games that makes it to the EVO aren't especially successful, at least no "pokemon level" successful.
Plus EVO isn't that popular of an event. If the game is competitive enough, twitch streams and local tournaments will do a much better work in the long run.

Edit : "Huge selling" : I expect it to do as good as Hyrule Warriors. Is that huge ?

No doubt that these pushes will help with initial sales of the game, what I'm curious about is if the community and support for Pokken will last a good while.

Good thing is pokemon fanbase is 10mil+ strong, even 10% would be enough especially for a fighting game. TBH i didn't expect this kind of push cuz its still a spin off (unlike mario, pokemon doesn't do well sales wise).

This could be the exception. You should see the salt for evo thread at neogaf xD (pokken already hated on)

I hope it does well if only to show that there's still a large audience for fighting games on Nintendo consoles (though I question the decision to use Pokemon for this spinoff on a struggling Nintendo console since the Pokemon audience is on Nintendo handhelds).  Also, I'm not surprised about the neogaf reaction since they have an obvious bias against Nintendo and an obvious bias for Sony there.  People don't call the place 'sonygaf' for nothing.

Excuse me? Nintendo owns the biggest fighting franchise in gaming, Super Smash Bros.

this

but its sort of a sad state of affairs for the fighting genre, certainly has lost some popularity over the years. fighters were dominant in the 90s and today thehy lost their market share to a lot of other sorts of games (FPS / RPGs)
