I don't care how "reliable" any source is. I never, ever, EVER believe it. It takes too much mental energy to care that much at get my hopes up when they're wrong 99% of the time. A rumor is a rumor.

Also the very "glass half empty" part of me knows that whenever the next Paper Mario game gets revealed it's just going to disappoint me again, so even if I knew an announcement was coming I couldn't get hyped for it--only deeply, deeply sad.

im sure there is a direct planned in the near future. Twilight princess HD amiibo trailer just looks like it would be part of an direct. Keep in mind this trailer was released by accident from nintendo germany. Maybe they wanted show an direct on monday but after the zelda trailer leaked, they decided to wait and replace that with something else.

TWO Paper Marios have been weak, which is half of the series and how it's been for over a decade.  I don't think they'll all neccessarily be bad, but I am betting that they won't be Paper Mario in the style of the first two, which is what I want.  Miyamoto has proven that he doesn't want to make another "real" Paper Mario, and that he wants to differentiate the series from Mario and Luigi.  Add in the fact that one of the problems with Sticker Star was the watered-down story and how now even Mario and Luigi is suffering the same fate, it shows that Nintendo is just moving further and further in the opposite direction of what I'm looking for.

It's not irrational pessimism.  It's looking at trends and drawing a likely conclusion.  A Paper Mario game can still be really good, but still be disappointing if it's missing a lot of what we all liked about it before.

Does Miyamoto actually hae any real say in the seires? It's an Intelligent Systems title, and Miyamoto is supposedly no longer the executive producer of everything first party.
