Well, I think it would sell enough to make it a success. I mean, Z&W sales weren't all that great but that's a success for that type of game. Even Capcom said it was a success.
Zack and Wiki is not Breath of Fire. Zack and Wiki is not even the same type of game as Breath of Fire.

If Zack and Wiki style games succeed on the Wii, Capcom will not make Breath of Fire for the Wii, it will make more Zack and Wiki style games.

Logic, is it really that hard to use?
Way to miss the point.  He's SAYING that it doesn't have to match up to the likes of FF in terms of sales to be successful.
How did I miss the point? He wants to use Z&W's sales as a ruler for a possible BoF's sales and I'm saying that it's illogical to use one genre's sales to predict another.

It's like saying that because Halo 3 sold so well that a Zack and Wiki style game would sell on the 360.
From the context it appears clear to me that he is responding to Riachu saying 'They won't because it won't sell as well as FF, etc.' by saying 'That doesn't mean that they can't sell enough to be successful and well worth the effort, just like Z&W was a success despite "low" sales.'  In that case, that is completely different from saying that it would do well because the game would be like Zack & Wiki.  So, you missed the point -- if, of course, I didn't misinterpret Soriku's post myself.

The problem is that in order to argue that line instead of the above, you have to believe that a Zack and Wiki game would have the same production cost as a Breath of Fire game.  I'd like to believe that even Soriku wouldn't be silly enough to argue that.

Only if you suppose the BoF game would sell only as many as Z&W, which is not at all the same thing as being a similar sort of success (i.e. making a nice profit despite decidedly non-blockbuster status).

[edit:  Also -- and forgive me if I am misremembering -- Z&W cost $40 upon its release, correct?  And a BoF game would probably cost $50, right?  So that would make up some of the production cost difference, too.]

1. why just wii, especially if it would sell better and probably be a better game on ps360
2. BoF and BoF2 are good all the rest are just average games or poor
3. If u want RPGs get a 360 or PS3. dont expect that many great ones to come to the wii. ninteno consoles haven't been good for RPGs since the SNES

I'm not the biggest fan of the breath of fire games, although I have beaten them all. 2 was my favorite, and actually after that 5 because it was diffrent and less generic.

Personally I would rather see a new series than a retread of BOF because at least to me BOF was always very generic and at many times just boring to get through. They weren't bad just nothing very exciting imo.

1. I don't imagine translating all the controls would be easy and everyone would be crawling up Capcom's ass about "teh suck grafx". On the other hand, I don't think Wii-->PS360 ports are a totally crazy idea at all, but there are significant obstacles.

3. Gee, Nintendo consoles haven't had the best RPG lineup since the last time they had the dominant console? I guess that means the Wii probably won't ... oh wait.

1. The series was never that popular in Japan either way, sales were meh... and it think it would be a better game on ps3/360.

2. BoF:DQ is one of the best Jrpgs of last gen, check it out.

3. I agree with you, that there haven't been a FLOOD of jrpgs on nintendo consoles since the SNES, if you don't count handheld consoles that is.

 

ON TOPIC: Soriku wants another series on Wii he hasn't even played... NEWSFLASH..

Guys, Zack and Wiki was a success, lets cancel all our other projects, scrap MH3 for Wii and all other projects unlike Z&W, all we need to do is make Z&W type games, no other genre can be successful on the Wii... RE was an illusion.

If anyone’s logic is off, it's yours.

I never played a Breath of Fire of game but would consider picking one up if it was good enough. I hear good things about the other games.

Geez, you have either chosen the wrong nickname or you're just trolling here...

Stop thinking in absolute terms. His point is that the game's success isn't dependent on selling as much as some bigger franchises. It's very simple.
