Well is there a pc as cheap as a ps3? with that many great exclusives? ...... No?

A decent PC isn't THAT much more expensive than a new PS3. With way way way more great exclusives and an altogether much larger library. Would also be able to play the majority of new releases as well, something the PS3 can't do.

New maybe, online used... no just no.

(sites postage is €5 here so, 90 total)

OP also forgot that there are models of PS3 which are capable of playing PS1/2/3 games if you get your hands on a launch model with the full BC chipset in it.

Also if you happen to have a large collection of psone games still laying around the house a PS3 is a fairly class tool to have on your wifi network if you also own a Vita, pop the psone game in the PS3 and you can play it away on the Vita all you want, Vita's small but clear screen does wonders for some of the older PS1 titles.

The only problem wih ps3 is how slow and clunky the interface is when comparaded with ps4 interface. But in terms of games, is amazing console.

Entering and exiting apps and games feels like it actually takes an eternity compared to how fast you're back at the UI with a press of the PS button on the DS4. It's a night and day comparison indeed.

Nope, not as long as PCs exist.

Well is there a pc as cheap as a ps3? with that many great exclusives? ...... No?

A pc build thats even stronger then ps3:

Cheap Case: 15€

SOC: Amd A10 7850k (stronger then ps3): 130€

Motherboard: Asus A68HM-K: 40€

4GB Ram: 7€

Power Supply: 20€

500gb HDD: 40€

= 260€.

Ps3 new on amazon: 199,- 500gb model.

PC lets you play:

Almost all multiplats (even next gen exclusives that arnt available on ps3 run at least on low settings 720p).

All Mulitplats available on ps3 in better quality. Most of that games are below 5€ on steam.

All PC exclusives so far released. Including series like Half life, Starcraft, Warcraft, Guild Wars, Counter Strike, Left4Dead, Gothic, Anno, Settlers, League of Leghends, Dota, Hearthstone and much, much more. Most of that games are below 5€ on steam.

All Snes, Nes, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Ps1, Ps2, PSP, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo DS games  by using emulation.

Better enegry consumption then ps4.

A used ps3 (launch model) is ~7 year old hardware.

If I get an used PC or used pc hardware thats 3-5 years old, ill still be cheaper and have similar/better performance

Links! I gave them you can too!

Also in terms of hardware age CEX gives 12month cover on all hardware sold, including of course this potentially 7 year old console, if it was a hardware failure worry you were suggesting with the age.

(CEX are nuts for some of their console prices here in Ireland, can get a used Xbox360 with a controller for almost the same price as a new Pad... it's almost cheaper to buy an Xbox360 just to get a pad and chuck the console in the bin)

edit - Only thing I'd ask hardware wise of the PC you link which costs under €90 including delivery + obviously the controller required to play the games with it (mouse keyboard/gamepad) is that it has hardware capable of playing GTAV comparitively as well as the PS3 can put it out, if there are options out there where that is possible I could really use such a PC for a family member as a gift!

Link? and yeah don't bring emulation in to this if you don't want to spend money on your hobby feel free to do that, but I rather spend money to get more of the games I like.

So at first it was 200 bucks now 260€ and you forgot some parts for pc in this list, but funny I already knew if you provide such a list you would not list everything^^

as an example. If you spend more time in research you can get way cheaper. There are videos on youtube where people build 300€ pc with used parts that outperforms ps4.

Didn't you know that things can be cheaper if you steal them Sprash? Great value and lots of games! just, have to be morally fine with theft and you're good to go.

Lol if going that route for cheap gaming someone could just as easily suggest that you can break into a store and steal a PS4, there we go, it's now a free console! no strings attached.

Also just noticed the PC exclusive listed there, Half Life (on the Xbox/360 and PS2) Star Craft (on the N64) Warcraft (psone) Counter strike (Xbox), Left4dead (everything last gen) Exclusive means... not on other systems.

1.86ghz Core2Duo playing GTAV with 2gb of ram?

omg @ the 80gb Harddrive as a gaming PC? my sides are in space. "Gaming PC", that is amazing.

The install for windows / GTAV wouldn't actually fit on this PC's harddrive my god.

GTAV PC min specs

Minimum:

  • OS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit, Windows 7 64 Bit Service Pack 1, Windows Vista 64 Bit Service Pack 2* (*NVIDIA video card recommended if running Vista OS)
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs) / AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs) @ 2.5GHz
  • Memory: 4GB
  • Video Card: NVIDIA 9800 GT 1GB / AMD HD 4870 1GB (DX 10, 10.1, 11)
  • Sound Card: 100% DirectX 10 compatible
  • HDD Space: 65GB
  • DVD Drive

Literally the only place this meets the spec chart is the DVD drive.

Oh man that's perfect! by the next time there is a discussion about pc vs. console (regarding price) I just make this list here:

for consoles

every game you want: 0€

console you want: 0€

because you can steal them for free from another person, a new from the store or you get them as present

and for pc

you can't steal digital games

the amount of hardware you have to steal is higher

chances to get caught is higher

verdict: console gaming far far far cheaper than pc gaming ------> FACT!
