Forums - Gaming - I'm starting University soon and I'm afraid my gaming life will be over....

I graduated last year and decided to take a year off helping my parents with bills. It took be MONTHS to find a job and I finally found a job this month, it's not actually a full time job yet, but I'm on call 24/7 so I'm ready all time to go to work. Now that I'm making money, I have can buy any game I want. But it sucks so much that this great opportunity will be gone since I'll be going to University. I have a HUGE passion for video games and been playing all my life. Most of my fun times in High School was because of video games. I cant imagine my life without video games for a few years. I WOULD SUFFER.  Have  anyone ever played games in University or College? before??

Part of getting older is figuring out time management. It's a hard thing to adjust to, but you'll get there! You might not get to do it as much as you would like to, but you still should always spend time doing the things that you love. Just take a deep breath and write out a schedule, even though I know you're on call 24/7. Everyone should always spend time doing the things that you love and you'll be completely fine! I promise 😀

It's just how life goes, as kids we had the time but no money, but as we grow up we get money but less time.

As long as you keep enjoying gaming you will find the time to do it, but it won't be as much as before.

I played League of Legends instead of going to lectures and I got bad results and was unemployed and depressed for 8 months subsequently.

Don't be like me.

It's called Time Management, i spread my time well enough.

Learn time management.

Yes, but it is all about time management. I cannot stress this enough. TIME. MANAGEMENT. If you prioritize your responsibilities as a student, it is my belief that the limit of what you can do is pretty high.
If you want to play video games you will find a way. Trust me on that.
However, you will be in a secondary educational institution, and a fair amount of money will be invested into this education, so it should take top priority. Showing up to every class and paying attention is of paramount importance. So is getting any homework done ASAP - which can be tough for people like us who love gaming so much and just want to get some hours of blasting in. Here is where you must carefully manage your time.
Use gaming as a reward for studying/writing. Tell yourself that you won't touch your console until you get an hour of work in - and follow through on it. Sooner or later it will become habit.
If a procrastinator like me is able to have a job, 6 different classes, a social life and still be able to put time aside for Naruto/Video Games/VGC etc, then anyone can do it haha

It's ok. Death is a natural part of gaming life.

Lube Me Up

It's called life and time management.

I'm planning to go to university very soon myself, and I already am starting to manage what free time I have left.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Trust me when I tell you finding a good house party is wayyy more fun than playing video games.  I play video games in college, but it became a time waster more than a hobby.  It's kind of a chore until games I care about come out (Persona 5, Legend of Zelda, FFXV, DQXI).  You'll more than likely have time to play though.
