Which is the casual console of this Gen?

XBOX ONE 14 10.37%

WII U 23 17.04%

PS4 69 51.11%

3DS 14 10.37%

VITA 2 1.48%

OUYA 13 9.63%

Total:135

in a way i would choose PS4 and Wii U.

Ps4, since it has the biggest user base with the most variety of games the casuals will no doubt out weight the hard core. However personally i know much more hardcore gamers with a ps4 then casual.

Wii U, because most people i know personally that have a Wii U are casual players that dont really venture outside of the games they know i.e. mario, zelda, etc.

Both have hardcore audience/games and both have casual so for me its a tie. But since Ps4 is market leader i choose that for the thread.

I'd say none of the three are casual this gen as Nintendo diehards are buying the wiiu and the ps4/xb1 are too expensive a purchase to attract a significant casual crowd (anyone spending $300+ on a console that offers what unique feature beside gaming?)

The casual platform is mobile.

None of them are. 99% of casuals moved to mobile. Most WiiU owners are hardcore Ninty fans or multi platform gamer hardcore enough to own more than one console. PS4 and X1 cater to a more core audience than anything else, but they do have many indie games casuals might enjoy (esp PS4 and Vita). That said, many of these smaller games can also be played on an average PC and in some cases mobile as well. That said, I feel very few casuals bought any of the next gen consoles (assuming we are talking of the same ones that bought the Wii and hardly played it).

How  did you derive this figure?  Indeed people who play games on their phones aren't very dedicated but some may own a PC or a console.  It's like being king of casual is a bad thing... but it makes companies money... I don't understand.

It's literally the PS4. People just buy Battlefront (or any game that's hip at the moment) post something about it on social media and then get bored and carry on with their lives. No commitment at all, just disposable and meaningless experiences.

many of the wii casuals don't play anymore or went to their phone or facebook or something. You can see it in the sales numbers, that's why this gen is down 15 million so far.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X
