Surprised no one has done Assassin's Creed yet
1. AC IV: Black Flag - Arguably the most fun story of the series - whilst still keeping a current day story line in play "post Desmond". Great story, best exploration, unique environments. AC IV particularly fun to play on the Wii U, utilizing the game pad as a map.
2. Assassin's Creed II - The game introduced us to our beloved Ezio one of the more memorable leads in video game history. This particular entry was a significant quality jump up from the already excellent AC.
3. AC: Brotherhood - Building on it's great predecessor Brotherhood introduced another head scratching story (in a good way), improved mechanics and the addition of an Assassin's Guild AND a great new take on multi-player.
4. AC: Rouge - The largely ignored "last-gen" entry of the AC series continues the ship game play of Black flag all the while introducing us to a great story and solid exploration. This game was really the most surprising of the entire series in that most people expected it to be a throw away title.
5. AC: Syndicate - Admittedly, I have yet to complete this game but I respect what I see so far and like how they've now introduced the series into the Industrial Revolution. Many of the problems that plagued unity have been fleshed out here.
TIE #6. AC Unity / AC III - I couldn't bring myself to pick between the two. Both were hampered by more bugs and technical problems than other entries in the series. On the same note they are under appreciated because of the hangups. There is a lot of great new ideas in both of these games and fans would be remiss if they discounted them completely.
#8 AC: Revelations - a good game focusing on Instanbul/Constantinople and the Ottoman empire. At this point though the series was beginning to feel a bit stale and needed something new to re-invigorate the series (enter AC IV)
#9 Assassin's Creed - I feel badly that I'm ranking the 1st game in the series as the worst. But it really is a testament to the overall innovation of the series. I like many other people had my fair share of complaints about the series. Especially trying to keep up with the annual releases. But I've come to realize that I really love these games.
run away!
