Forums - Nintendo - Could you see Nintendo publishing games on PC if worst came to worst?

Which platform could you see Nintendo working on if worst came to worst?

Home Computer 29 28.16%

Smart Phone 35 33.98%

Playstation 35 33.98%

Xbox 4 3.88%

Total:103

One of the things I love and respect about Nintendo is their innovation and self respect. I can't imagine what it'd be like for the proud members of the board to suck it up and pay apple or who ever 30% of their profits. Can you? I don't know what Playstation charges but given their tumultous past I can't imagine that would go well either.

What about the personal computer? Steam doesn't pay microsoft anything. Steam makes it's own peripherals. If worst came to worst (which it won't imo *Knocks on wood*) I can easily imagine Nintendo making a portal for Home Computers that lets you buy every game from a Nintendo platform, from first to 3rd party, and have it work with every future Nintendo peripheral. Just like Steam Link you could still play on your TV with new Nintendo hardware in your hands and all the profits go to Nintendo.

Despite your level of affinity to Steam, can you see how this benefits us?

I think smartphone first, then PC

I know a lot of you are still reluctant to enter PC gaming for what ever your reason. But can you see how this could work?

reluctant? more like no interest.

Playstation because Sony is a Japanese company and also global market leader. The NX is already dead, it will be either a casual player focused system or suffer from missing adult game and 3rd party support.

Nope, if anything they'd just call it quits ...

If they get to the point of been desperate enough to put most of their efforts on platforms like smartphones or PCs then it becomes clear that their software isn't worth much anymore ...

Let's hope that they don't go that low ...

Didnt know you could see the future

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

PC exclusive eShop just to annoy all those who didn't buy Nintendo consoles because they wanted the games on their respective console. And to sell peripherials of course, Nintendo is after all a toy company which sells software to sell hardware, not the other way around

no, they would never do that

Not anytime soon.

I said it before on another thread, but if Nintendo ever has to go that low, they'll probably resort to smartphones first before anything.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
