I think square-enix isn't doing enough to build the hype. We are only months away from release and we did not see any amazing trailer, showing diverse locations or great action sequences.

1.5m for me.
But your expectation is interesting. You expect a lower opening after 13 but I presume your expecting it will be well received and thus those who didn't jump in day 1 will follow. |
I definitely can see legs especially with ps4 just starting to take off

But aren't the fans hardcore? Like this title should be really front loaded with no long term legs?

I'll say 1.2m
Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

FF games (and JRPGs in general) aren't particularly known for have amazing legs in Japan, many selling over 50% of their LT sales in their FW. Of course expanding install base is important, but the install base at the time of release is also a major factor that can hinder a game's sales from the jump. |
wrong FF13 and its addons sold 4 Million easily. FF15 will be huge if its released, its open world now

Except the question isn't about FFXV and its potential add-ons or sequels, so bringing those up are pointless.
By your logic Uncharted 4 will sell 22 million because Uncharted and its "add-ons" sold 22 million.
