Yes because fuck innovation and trying new ways to play, everybody should be playing with a 1997 gamepad until the end of times, YaY.

A traditional console and controller would be great. An upgraded Classic Controller Pro packaged in would be much prefered over what Nintendo have released the last two (or three) generations.

As so streaming? Nah, I want to actually own my games.

The double screen has become a staple of Nintendo devices, it will come back. However, they should do something similar to the Dualshock 4: a traditional controller with a small area used to have a touchscreen. Imagime a controller similar to the GameCube or the Pro but with a touchscreen in the middle the size of the DS touschscreen. That would be enough for their needs. And if you want something bigger, you buy a gamepad separately.

Also, please don't streaming. I still don't trust that technology.

Why purpose would an actual screen serve?

The same purpose that it had with the DS and the 3DS. One screen is the TV, one small touchscreen on the controller. A lot of games use the secondscreen for a lot of things, and some games like TWEWY, Mario Maker and the Etrian Odyssey wouldn't be able to exist without the touchscreen.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

U do realize NES was a gimmick controller, right? Look up the Coleco Vision, Intellivision, Atari 5200 controller, that's what a standard controller looked like pre-NES.

NES also had the Zapper & R.O.B., gimmick controllers are part of Nintendo's roots.

Unless you're going to call "R" and "L" buttons gimmicks, I think it's safe to say the SNES  controller was no gimmick.

I don't think that's what people mean though. They want innovation via SOFTWARE, not hardware. Think OOT instead of Wii Sports. People would rather see Nintendo inovate the industry with their games instead of a new controller.

They can do both

Sure they can. I was just trying to explain to you what the other side means when they say they want a regular controller.

What I think is:
if you have to go gimmik do it so that it improves the controller: Weel triggers ? bring them on. NFC reading ? fuck no, leave that to the sensor bar/ something like the Skylanders Stand so that if people want to use it they have to buy it and it doesn't affect the console's price. Touch Screen controller ? ok but make it of the shape that a controller should have and don't remove phisical buttons...

The Gamecube controller was one of the worst controllers ever created. The best part is that the analog stick didn't dissolve like the N64 controller. That is it though. The button placement is questionable. The analog sticks don't click. There is 1 Z button. There is no select button and the C nub isn't a real good replacement for a full analog stick. Not to mention the D pad is tiny and practically unusable.

If you're a real Nintendo fan you should be begging Nintendo to never again look at a GCN controller and be singing the praises of the Wii U Pro controller.

I agree with you 100%

Nintendo needs to release a straight forward console with a regular controller (the gamecube one is the most requested by the real fans).

Them releasing a regular console doesnt mean that their regular games wont be releasing, i dont know why people are against this.

While I agree that the Gamecube controller is great, it is flawed, like the tiny C-stick, the unbearable Z button or the lack of second left shoulder button. Also the Gamecube controller can become uncomfortable if you use it too much (depends of you hand size I guess).

Nintendo already know how to do great controllers like my favourite Nintendo controller, le Wii Pro controler which is very confortable. They just need to add analog triggers for their racers.
