I agree with you 100%

Nintendo needs to release a straight forward console with a regular controller (the gamecube one is the most requested by the real fans).

Nintendo's 2 least successful consoles are ones that utilize a standard dual-analog setup.

Why would anyone want a GameCube controller when this exists.

Just give it analog triggers and we're all good.

bad shoulder buttons, no cable

it looks fancy doesn't play well

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Nintendo consoles have been selling less than the previous one, obviously except the Wii.

I dont think that regular controllers are the reason tho.

"Fancy ass" is actually an industry term, for anyone wondering.

Actually, I think it would be awesome if "Fancy Ass" became the sub-brand. People would buy the Nintendo Fancy Ass in droves. "Mom, I want a Fancy Ass!" "Aw, man, that new Fancy Ass has some sweet graphics." "Hey, babe, look at that Fancy Ass on display ... ow!"

It would be fabulous.

^ this.

This is the controller the Wii U should have launched with and be 80$ cheaper.

Nintendos console would be in a better place today if they had.

I preffer the location of the analogue sticks on the GC controller, plus the big buttons makes it faster to change from one to another, but that's just me being used to the GC setting.  :P

Well, I'm against the popular opinion, and I don't want a traditional controller. Each gen I want new ways of playing. Something different. Being stucked on the same old, same old controller for gens is just sad. Gaming has to evolve and shift each gen, and controllers are a big part of it.

GameCube's C-stick & D-pad weren't that great either though :/. Since I like 2D platformers I'd rather have a good D-pad than good shoulder buttons, but that's just a matter of preference.

U do realize NES was a gimmick controller, right? Look up the Coleco Vision, Intellivision, Atari 5200 controller, that's what a standard controller looked like pre-NES.

NES also had the Zapper & R.O.B., gimmick controllers are part of Nintendo's roots.

The D-pad wasn't a gimmick, it was an innovation.  They didn't even want to use it at first, they wanted a traditional joystick, but found the D-pad to be a superior option.

R.O.B. was a gimmick but it was barely a factor (thought I do remember wondering "WHERE THE HELL IS MY ROBOT" when I got my NES).  The light-gun was also a gimmick, and more of a factor, but it became less of a factor as time went on.

The big difference is that the NES did not depend on a gimmick the way the Wii U and Wii depended on gimmicks.

The only difference between gimmicks and innovations is that innovations are kept on the product and become a fundamental part of it. Gimmicks can go and few people will really miss them. Only time will tell what becomes innovation and what is labeled as a fad.
