Forums - Nintendo - the Wii U is not getting replaced this year, guys

This is fairly obvious if you remove emotion from the equation. The game will easily sell an extra 1.5-2 million copies that it wouldn't otherwise minimum as a NX launch title due to all the extra excitement that comes from being in a launch window and being the "go to" launch game.

It also gifts Nintendo basically a "free" killer app for their NX launch window, which means the other game(s) they wanted to have in the launch window don't neccessarily have to be in launch. IE: No need to rush a Mario NX, because you have Zelda for launch, so now Mario NX can comfortably arrive in that post launch window.

Exactly. and why even bother throwing emotion into it? The supposed salty people who claim they won't get an NX if this happens...I doubt it. Plus, the benefit of the extra sales / better NX launch would far outweigh the supposed backlash

Two sides who disagree... I don't think anyone is going to change their minds no matter what is said. I look forward to the big reveal because someone is gonna have to concede their error....

From a business perspective, it makes zero sense to keep the new Zelda Wii U exclusive. Just my thought on this one.

nintendo has an obligation to everybody who supported their console to supply it with a zelda that is exclusive. from a business perspective, you dont want to completely burn your bridges. it isnt intelligent.

If it's released on NX too practically will be NX game too, especially if it's released in same time on NX and Wii U. Fact that is port will not change anything, people dont consider TP like GC game only, on contrary most people consider TP like Wii game because huge majority of people played game on Wii and game had much longer life on Wii, GC version was practically dead right after launch.

It's a game made from the ground to Wii U. It will always be a wii u game.

Like already wrote to you few times, just technically.  For intance most people consider TP like Wii game because huge majority of people played that game on Wii and game had much longer life on Wii, GC version was practically dead right after TP launched while Wii life just started.

what most people consider it is irrelevant. TP is a gamecube game that was ported to wii. it was built from the ground up for the gamecube. that is like saying if most people played ocarina of time on the gamecube then its a gamecube game. well, my answer would be the same.. no.. its a nintendo 64 game that was ported to the gamecube.

Nintendo doesn't have an obligation. Nintendo released the Wii U & consumers bought it. Did they have an expectation? Sure. So did Nintendo, who expected more people to buy it. I'm sure the original plan was to make a Wii U exclusive Zelda, maybe even 2 during the early stages before Wii U launch. Things happen & plans change.

Making Zelda cross gen is the best thing they can do from a business standpoint. They wouldn't be burning bridges either because the Wii U would still receive the game. Why people would complain to the point of not buying the NX even tho they are getting the game they were expecting regardless is beyond me.

if NX is a minimal upgrade from the Wii U, then it doesn't make sense for the Wii U owners to buy NX.

For most wiiu users the console already got replaced, by a Xbox or ps4.
Just sayin

Nintendo isn't obligated to do shit. If they wanted to they could cancel Zelda U & put the series on an indefinite hiatus and there would be nothing u or anyone else could do about it.

Guess what? 2D Mario is a far more popular franchise than Zelda and neither N64 nor GameCube received an exclusive entry, they didn't even receive ports/remasters, the series took an 18 year hiatus on consoles. Metroid skipped N64 and had 8 years between Super & Prime. Kid I cards was dormant for 21 years. Pikmin went 9 years between 2 & 3. Luigi's Mansion went 12 years without a sequel. Pilotwings went 15 Yeats between releases. Star Fox Zero is the first in 10 years. Punch-Out went 15 years. F-Zero hasn't gotten a new release in over a decade. The list goes on.

Nintendo can do whatever they want and a few people bitching on the Internet aren't going to stop them from doing what they think is best for their business.

What's the point of making "ifs" with 0% chance of happening? It's like saying "if the next iphone gives people cancer, people have no reason to buy it."
