Well I got the game for my kids for Christmas and I didn't expect much from a game that had just ok reviews. So my first impression, well this game is a little weird, I didn't really like the soundtrack and the lack of online splitscreen was disapointing and a turn down for my so my initial impression was not that great.
Anyways, my kids loved the game immediatly which was unexpected, they were able to play the game right away using the roller etc so I gave it a second try and I though well this game is addicting but its not that great. So as I was playing this game and exploring the content I realised that this game is actually really fun and there is quite a bit of content to it. So here is my review.
The graphics grew on me, at first I was a bit skeptical about the squid girls etc but then I grew to really love the vibrant colors and the whole design and concept behind it. Its just a band new world from Nintendo which is something I didn't experience in a long time. The soundtrack some of them especially in the story mode I loved right away some others not that much but it grew on me and its actually different and interesting. The gameplay is spot on, they couldn't get it more right. The first time I played it, its one of the things I loved about it, its very fluid and the concept behind it didn't only grew on me but I actually came to realise that this is the first time that I play a game like this. Its really cool to just be able to make yourself a trail, turn into a squid and go to a high ground etc, its so much fun.
The story mode I think is a bit too short but its really good, the last boss was probably one of the best boss I have played in gaming, it was difficult but yet so entertaining. I love all the customisation behind this game and the different abilities that comes with different piece of clothings. The weapons are very well balanced, there is no better weapons in this game, your favorite weapon can be one of the cheapest ones and your least favorite can be the most expensive ones, its all depends on your playing style and how you like them personnally. The online modes are a lot of fun and they can do so much more with this game its crazy but the lack of customisation and splitscreen is disapointing, still this game is so unique and addicting that it makes up for it and keeps you coming back for more.
So all in all this game is amazing, while it got its downsides its still an amazing game that I would recommend to anyone that has a WiiU. Its one of my favorite game this gen and it actually brought me back into gaming as I pretty much lost interest into gaming. The fun factor in this game is what I love about it and how easy it is to actually just jump in it and be able to participate, making a difference for your team by just going behind enemy lines or using other strategy is really nice.
All in all I give this game a 9 as the goods really makes this game shines and far outweights the bads.
