Forums - Sales Discussion - December 2015 NPD Thread! PS4 and XBO exclusives LTD up!

Boutros said:

Well they also adjusted numbers for past weeks (using NPD) as they do every month after NPD is out so they aren't really VGC numbers at this point lol

But here's the chart anyway. I will put both the old one and the new one in the OP.

After NPD:

XB1 and PS4 off by only 1/3k. Nice. Wii U and 3DS off by 11k, or 2% over. Alright.  360 and PS3 are under/over by 5% (7k) and 24% (7k). Might want to lower the PS3 a bit.

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

Overall LTD , VGC has the XB1 over by ~40k (4%) PS4 over by ~108k (9%) and Wii U over by ~200k (4%). The Wii U, even though its percentage diff is about the same as the XB1, it needs to be adjusted. 200k is a lot for the Wii U. PS4 also needs to be adjusted because it is very close to being off by a double digit %.

I thought that pr referred to the monthly data.

So PS4 have been slowly making the gap rate of growth bigger each year.

More or less. At the start of the year the gap was bit over half a million units. Now it's over 1.3M.

I was talking about the increase in the gap being bigger each year. Look at your year over year graph and we will have like 300k then 700k then 1.3M so the gap is growing faster every year.

Looks like every year PS4 increases it's lead over the Xbox One even more than the previous year.

This year will be interesting. With PS4 loaded lineup, how big will the gap become?

1mil gap in 2016 sales? I could see that happen.

Oh. Well, in that case, here's the gaps for each year:

2013: ~186k
2014: ~400k
2015: ~800k

It doubled the gap growth each year... but I doubt it will get to 1.6M gap for Y16, I would say 1-1.2M is quite possible. But who knows? Perhaps the very strong lineup will help out. It'll be another exciting year, I cheer for MS to keep up fightining and delivering the games their userbase wants.

I can actually see a 1.6M gap in 2016. Thereabouts anyway.
