Forums - Sales Discussion - December 2015 NPD Thread! PS4 and XBO exclusives LTD up!

3DS + Vita = approx. 640k

Portable hardware is down 32% YoY, and last year portable hardware did 940k. 940*0.68=639.2

My prediction for total revenue was $3.26b, actual total was $3.22b

Nice

Blowing your own trumpet hey! :p

But yes, nice indeed.

Yes, sorry haha. Just I was so off last month that it feels good to be so close this month :P

from venture beat: "PlayStation 4 outsold Xbox One and Wii U in December. That makes it the best-selling system of the year by a wide margin."

I wonder how wide that margin is? VGC has it at about 860K, but to me "wide margin" should probably be 1 million.

You mean it should be much more than 1 million.

How wide or tight it is depends on your standards

Both Super Mario Maker and Splatoon have both sold more than 1million units in the US.

Congrats to both, well deserved and the players are loving it.

“December 2015 was the best month on record for PS4 and Xbox One, and the second-best for the Wii U in terms of new physical software unit sales,”

Anything we can get from this?

That it was a good month to everybody

I think you're misunderstanding. They're only talking about oftware I gather and not hardware, so of course as the user base grows as it will do year after year until the next generation the software sales are also going to grow year after year

NPD DATA:

  Hardware:

PS4 + XBO + WiiU = 3.067m

I think that's revenue and not units sold, at least that's how this sounds to me:

"All of that offset a 4 percent increase in spending on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U."

"Spending" sounds like revenue to me.

Edit: OP already got updated

You're talking about console sales right?

And it's basically useless to tag a thread that will be on the hot section, front section and forum section during the whole afternoon and night =p you won't need but list for it.

Can I tell you the truth? No one likes you around here.

Wow. This if the first time a main series Halo game has failed to make the Top 10 best-selling games of the year in the U.S. Halo 3 was #1 for 2007, and Halo: Reach and Halo 4 were in the top five in 2010 and 2012 respectively. I wonder what the LTD sales for Halo 5 are as of the end of 2015.

Interesting. I wonder how the market will react to Gears 4 in that case, 343i seems to have been burninng through the fanbase reasonably quickly. Guardians probably was the fourth best selling shooter on XB1 this holiday... Well at least Gears 1 UE wasn't MCC.
