I'd be concerned about a sort of Reverse icon effect. Most people know Mickey Mouse as they're parents icon, not theirs. It'd be kind of like if the next Crash Bandicoot game actually recaptured the incredible gameplay of the original ones. It might be an awesome game, but it wouldn't sell as well because most people are aware that they kept making Crash games and those games suck now.
I admit I don't know too much about the Kingdom Hearts games, so I may be completely in the wrong here, But I can't help but think a Mickey Mouse game would have to overcome it's mascot, as opposed to cashign in on it.
