I think VR Gaming will be a niche market in the meantime. VR WILL be expensive, don't expect it to be affordable at launch and like all technology it will become cheaper over time and might succeed in the future.

Sony artificially creating a bonus console can jump GameStop's profits even more, especially if GS hypes it up. Hype's a powerful concept, and it's easy for companies to force onto the public through gullible gamers if The Order or Evolve's pre-launch hype didn't tell you already. Recall that GameInformer is the one who ran those hype trains? |
I enjoyed the order and got my money's worth of entertainment making me a gullible dummy according to the interwebz.
I also purchased despite all the negativity it was getting from the press and commenters before it was even released. I never saw hype for it. If game informer hyped it that was one vs a lot of caution to downright negativity on demo and showroom playthrough by a large portion of the press I saw.
I did see a lot of pushing hype for evolve, I'll give you that, as it was followed up with reviews also supporting the hype they generated which was the opposite of the order
ill also agree that GameStop is going to push psvr because they'll profit if it succeeds. That's how business works.

I expect them too, but then those things will be pricey, so they should buy them some insurance or something because costumers may end up breaking them.
Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Up until about maybe two months before launch The Order was the big system seller in the eyes of most of the media. I believe GI had the first big cover feature on it. It wasn't until near the launch window that people sort of realized the game wasn't gonna be worth $60 with its low replayability and lack of content. Plus, people finally started noticing when RAD employees used phrasing such as "well we had to add gameplay at SOME point," and everything started crumbling. But it's an example of a game hyped up by media with no discernible reason besides profit. The reviews for Evolve were pretty alright by comparison, don't get me wrong, but it came and went incredibly quick because it wasn't exactly worth the cost to most - especially when we take into account all the DLC.
My point is that nobody should be remotely surprised that he's saying this. He's got a very vested interest in this because if VR succeeds he's got a brand new market to sell to, and that market is much more likely to lean in his favor if it's PSVR that leads the way. Like you said, it's good business to come out and push PSVR this way; I'm just making sure nobody takes this as anything but him looking out for his own interests.
You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt! I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading. After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

the game wasn't hyped after people played it at the shows
Like I said, maybe game informer hyped it but that's one against the many and it definitely was not hyped on the internet comment boards long before release.
I've seen much worse games get praised and receive glowing reviews that didn't even work and that to me is far worse than the shortness of the order, the dumbness of not allowing skippable cutscenes, or the stupidity of the devs not having weapon load outs for mission levels. I don't consider QTE a negative because they're in practically every game now including highly rated and praised ones.
Just because someone likes something you don't doesn't mean they're a gullible dummy in need of protection
