The new Metroid should be like Metroid Prime Hunters, as you know the story mode in hunters is not the main element, Wi-fi is the core of the game. In fact i know ppl who buyed this game only for play online.

I supposed Retro didnt include multiplayer action on Corruption because they were going to develop an all-new game designed for online gaming like Halo 3 or Gears of War so i think they will make the next Metroid.

 Like paper mario and the shifting back and forth, but with the expansive metroid world.

 Maybe,  Like Nick said it could have a shifting  from 2d to 3d. When in 3d it could have a 1st or 3rd person perspective. 

I would absolutely love another 2-d console Metroid like Super Metroid, but updated. I think it would be amazing and could be sold on WiiWare or something. They could make it a world that expands every so often with addon's to keep people playing.

I think they have the resources to do something like this as well as work on a new 3-d main entry.  Then people would get the best of both worlds. 

Since Resarch & Development 1 has been remade into Entertainment Analysis Development (which is lead by Mr Miyamoto) and Retro Studios are taking a breather, that leaves Yoshio Sakamoto (co creator along side with Mr Yokoi) if nintendo wants him (just like with Sakurai and SSBB)

3rd person Metroid with SUPERIOR online and best controls evah = EPIC WIN... I hope they do that..

I think Metroid is taking alittle break for now.
