I did not realize how good was mk selling on the wii u. It's going to be close probably, 8M+ seems possible

MK8 seems to be the standard bundle now (about damn time!).

If we expect MK8's attach rate to remain this high, the WiiU has to sell another 4-5 million hardware units. I say that can happen.

Not sure but Mario Kart sales never fail to impress! Imagine what another great Mario Kart game could do for the next nintendo system if it releases within the launch year?

I really don't know, maybe? but I just wanted to say how much fun it is when I think about all the reviews and posts on forums saying this game would sell like shit because it was coming after the wii. I remember some people even saying it would be the worst mk seller with 4m lifetime tops.
It's still crazy to think how good it has sold so far! Though well deserved, the game is amazing.
I might have to buy a second copy, my brother borrowed my game because his copy was broken, he's been playing nonstop since launch and now it doesn't work xD

Nintendo said they sold 5.11 million by May of last year (5.11 million in 1 year), so i'm gonna go ahead and say the vgchartz numbers you post are way off, i don't know if it is all because of digital or because the estimates are wrong or both. So i will say that Nintendo will show us over 8.76 shipped some day, i don't know if vgchartz will ever show that kind of number.

Guys, you need to keep in mind that MK8 is probably above 7m (including digital) at this point, so it "only" need another 1.5m or so to match Super Mario Kart. Not THAT hard in my opinion.

With digital, looks like it will be easy.

I think it will, nintendo will probably release some official numbers including digital by the end of the fiscal year.

Exactly. Based on the September 30th numbers I posted plus VGChazrts tracking from October to December it should be sitting at about 7.2 million right now.

It'll reach that no sweat since it's the standard bundle.

Update: According to Nintendo's finnancial report the game is at 7.24m (12/31/2015).
