One year has little to no impact on the hardware, and releasing before the competition can give you a lasting headstart.

Hardware would get only a little cheaper and what makes you think they would need an extra year to get the desired result? The thing isn't rushed.

I also don't think people will drop their PS4 and Xbox One in the middle of the generation just to pick up the NX. I mean, Nintendo fans would. However, if NX is to have a chance, they'd best be able to run games like FFVII Remake and upcoming EA, Ubisoft, Activision (etc.) games. If Nintendo gets new 3rd party releases along with its own IP, NX will have a good chance to at least hit 30 Million. But this is a strange situation. No company has ever released new consoles like this back to back besides...*gulp* SEGA. I hope Nintendo knows what they're doing with NX and I can't wait to see how they're handling it. I've never been so excited for a console in my life, and we know NOTHING about it. That's a good start. Hopefully, they deliver and live up to western standards.

The nx wont compete directly with the ps4 and tje xboxone. Please people stop asking for more of the same.
