Forums - Gaming - Looking for opinions on two games (W:TNO and SoM)

Wolfenstein The New order, and Shadow of mordor.

Why? Just because. Curious.

Had to check this thread because I wasn't sure if SoM was Secret of Mana. =p

Shadow of Mordor is a lot of fun; progressing from "can I kill this guy" to "what's the most elaborate and over the top way I can kill this guy" is satisfying.

I've only played The New Order a little bit, but what I played was hella fun.

Yeah came in expecting SoM to be Secret of Mana.

Only played Shadow of Mordor, if you like assassin creed & batman you will like (same type of quest & collect over and over)

For me this was fun first 3-4h and than really boring, and since orcs boss comming back even if you kill them 30time make me wonder how the hero is so stupid to not check if they really dead...

Haven't played neither of those, sorry :(

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Shadows of Mordor is a game I found with an intriguing premise, and some beautiful scenery and nice first hours to play, then getting bored of it for some reason. Not a bad game by any means, just not interesting enough I guess.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is pure unadultered fun. Story cutscenes are sometimes a bit too intrusive, but if you're up to take enhanced nazi soldiers wielding two sniper rifles at the same time while causing all kind of chaos, this is the game you should strive to get.

I think it's more to do with being too used to doing similar things in other games than the game itself (which even does some of those things better than those other ones).

One of those things where even improvements can't quite shake off the over familiarity. It didn't it affect me as much as I haven't played AC since 2 and I avoid about half or more of these types of games but still somewhat of an issue. I can imagine that someone who plays most of them found it more boring, unless they are obsessed with the genre.

Maybe if there is no more Arkham after Knight and the AC rumours are true, SoM2 will have its own, more privileged space.

Replacing some of the more menial tasks with more story would also be better. Even if it's just more cutscenes instead of gameplay sections, still better than boring side quests that pad playtime

Regardless, it's better than AC for sure.

That doesn't explain why W:TFNO is a fun game, though. It doesn't do anything original (maybe the choice given the very first hours? But there's a lot of games that also offer choice and consequence), yet it never gets old, even though familiarity is definitively here. Gunplay being solid is definitively a bonus, but then again, SoM's swordfight wasn't bad in any means.
