Some Game Prices in Canada Have Risen to $85

year after $74.99/$79.99 started becoming the norm, Canadian retailers have raised the regular price of a couple PlayStation 4 games to $84.99.

First spotted on Amazon Canada, Arslan: The Warriors of Legend and Nights of Azure for PS4, both from Tecmo Koei, carry an $84.99 price tag. Best Buy Canada also backs this up, pricing Arslan at $84.99 as well.

The price raises are a result of the Canadian dollar, which is currently worth $0.71 USD. This means a $59.99 game in the would convert to over $77, while a $39.99 game would be over $51.

Man, it's becoming harder and harder for the Canadian economy as it relates to gaming. With taxes here in NS means i'll be paying $97.74 for a new game.

Edit: This is for X1 games as well just so people don't go the ol "PS4 is the market leader and raising prices" route.

I thought that 80 was a lot, but they are still increasing it? Why? If it adds up to 77 in American dollars, 80 should work just fine.

Canada - как надо.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

I guess it'd be cheaper for you just to buy it from a US website and have it shipped to you.

The price of shipping would not make it worth it.

Dollar is almost 70 cents to USD. Some projections indicating it well go well into low 60's. Awaiting $89.99 games. Hundred dollardoos plus with tax money.

Go ahead blame Harper for this, chumps. Let's hope things get better and Bank of Canada doesn't drop interest rates, creaming the dollar even more.

Damn, as if games in Canada already didn't cost a crapton. :/

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Wow i want to life in canada

I'm just waiting for PS+ (and XBLGold) subs to get a price increase, which would be really unfortunate for the Canadians. Currently 1 year of PS+ is CAD49.99, which is just USD35.46. A CAD20 increase in price or something similar could very well happen if the Canadian Dollar doesn't recover or goes down even further.
