No more spin-off of FFVII please, just release a complete version or FFVII remake on PS3.

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

Sorry twestern, I just assumed you were directing at me. I was just fishing and pasting news and hate it when the OP gets blasted for doing so. Sorry.

And if it went to the 360 they can kiss the Japanese market goodbye, the likely options are either the PSP, DS or PS3... |
Yeah, but the wii has the japanese market , and the japanese love ff. I see it going to the ds, or psp.

The OP isn't assuming shit. The OP was posting an article from 1UP that said PS3. READ. You see the BIG BLUE BANNER...that is the name of the article (WHICH I DIDN'T WRITE...BUT PASTED) However, I do personally think a FFVII remake or spin-off will come to the ps3 eventually. |
Oh wow. touchy, touchy.
sigh...
The title of the article states
More circumstantial evidence that an FFVII remake is en route to the PS3
So I assumed you typed your own title.

I see more spin-offs going to the ds or psp, but not a direct remake. Why do a direct remake if it's not an upgrade? The ps3 or 360 would be the best bets for a "direct" remake IF THEY EVER DO ONE...which I'm not convinced of.
The Wii, PSP, & DS are better suited for spin-offs of FFVII (Like Crisis Core).

DragonLord, I think what you're missing is that the people who would determine which system a FFVII remake goes to wouldn't be doing it because they think the game 'deserves' a remake. It seems beyond obvious that a Wii/DS/PSP remake would sell many more copies and cost much less than would a PS3/360 remake. Around half of all FF sales come from Japan, after all.
Yes, it's pretty clear that a very traditional RPG can be done better (prettier) on the 360/PS3 than on the Wii, DS, or PSP, but that's not really Square Enix's chief concern, and I don't see why that's at all relevant to the discussion.
Also, it's somewhat misleading to imply that a Wii remake wouldn't be an upgrade. A DS remake might be little more than a straight port, but the Wii is just a little bit more capable than the PS1. It can certainly do better than FFX or FFXII, and even those are much more technically impressive than FFVII.

Actually, it would make the most money on the DS or PSP (more than likely more on the DS).
If it were released on the Wii, PS3, or even 360 they would have to put A LOT of money into the game look as good as absolutely possible for whatever console it was put on. That would mean a very large budget for all the effort and all the time. The game would sell just about the same on the PS3 or Wii (not so much on the 360) for about the same budget (yes, Wii games can be big budget) so it doesn't matter that much which one.
If they made the remake for the DS or PSP the game would still require time and effort but not nearly as much as making it for one of the above systems. That would mean a smaller budget. The two handhelds also have the advantage of having a MUCH larger userbase of actual people that would buy the game (both Wii and PS3 have a good amount of people that wouldn't buy the game since the Wii is too casual and the PS3 is a BluRay player).
So ask yourself would you rather have a large budget and sell less copies or a small budget and sell more copies? Remember, the primary goal of any game is to make money.
-edit-
Also, when this game does come out, we will be talking about the DS2 and the PSP2.
