He mentioned Super Mario World (or as he wrote SMW), and he doesn't like random encounter rpgs. Super Mario All-Stars is a great mention though.

Ah yes. There's "SMW", overlooked it. But I never mentioned any RPGs...

Lol, I must be tripping. I could have swore you had Super Mario RPG, lol.
Good for you as long as you're happy with your decision and purchase. I find it hard for me to justify buying old games/system with all the emulators going around.
Don't forget to purchase FF6 (FF3 in NA) and Chrono Trigger if that hasn't been mentioned yet.
Huh, and here I thought the thing would be an Ouya or something, haha...
That's cool that you got an SNES, but won't it be hard to get games for it? The system's way past old, so it may be hard to find games you want, and the good ones may cost a pretty penny.
Anyways, I would say Megaman X, Kirby Super Star, TMNT4, a Final Fight game, and even though you said no RPGs, I would still recommend Super Mario RPG. The game doesn't have random battles, but enemies on screen. So you could evade them, or it at least means you know exactly how many enemies are on screen. Plus it's super fun. Just... reconsider on that one. : X Oh, and Chrono Trigger too..

Don't know if you're a puzzle guy but get Tetris Attack and you will be. You will be.
Mega Man X for sure.
Oh, and I also recommend EarthBound... if you're willing to spend like $200 on a single game. xD
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

There are countless gems on SNES because it was a fantastic console. Owning one feels great I understand that but seems like you like 2D games why did you traded your X1 for a SNES is beyond me.
The console is fairly easy to find but the games... omg people are selling the original games like they are brand new. Here in Quebec you can pay up to 100$ for a game like Final Fantasy or 40$ for Super Mario All Star.
There was more convenient and less expensive ways to play these games like by emulation or directly through a Ouya. Anyway that's your choice who am I to judge?
If you even get an emulator on PC I would suggest you try these games.
Final Fantasy Bahamut
Star Ocean
Dracula X
Lufia 2
7th Saga 2
Secret of Mana 2
Fire Emblem
