Forums - Sony Discussion - Horizon Zero Dawn: Guerrila Games on why no multiplayer in the game

- Horizon's Executive Producer Mark Norris talked to IGN Latin America on why the game won't have a multiplayer mode:

"There are questions as to why a multiplayer will not do. The reality is that we are putting together a new IP. We are making a new franchise for the first time in 10 years and what we really want to do is improve the experience for the player. When you get to face these machines as Aloy, with this great character, who is the real star of the story and everything that happens, have this connection with her, what happens when you add the elements of multiplayer? You play as a supporting character? How does that work?"

Does his explanation makes sense to you?

Do you mind Horizon not having multiplayer?

Considering what GG has shown of the game, can you think of fun multiplayer implementations in what we have come to know of the game so far?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

I'm fine with the game being SP only but I really hope the sequel (assuming there will be one) will have some sort of MP, even if it's just being able to join a friend's SP game to beat up robotic dinosaurs together.

Something similar to Borderlands.

Personally i love that this is single player only.I personally believe that the best games are single players and most games just pur multiplayer for tge sake of it, and potentially steal budget and time from the main part from the game: the single player.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Some of these guys make these explanations more complicated than they should be.

"This is a single player game. The game's system is designed around this one character, That's what we're focusing on."

That's all that's really needed.

The game is getting interesting with each news.

This has no multiplayer because it's a single player game and single player games don't have multiplayer, hence the reason it's called single player and not multiplayer. Plus single player games offer much better experience and immersion than multiplayer games. Done. Single player game.

I'm glad no MP, more focus on the actual game itself.

Exactly.  I like single player and multi player games for different reasons and personally happy this title has a single player focus.

4-6 hour campaign confirmed?

:P Sure the game will be cool, but I'd consider myself to be an idiot, personally, to spend $60 on a single player game.  >I dont play skyrim/fallout or rpgs as I hate side quests.
