I grabbed Rise of the Tomb Raider from an Amazon Holiday promotion.

I bought the Xbox One for 350$ + a Free game (i chose COD because TR wasnt out yet) + 50$ Gift Card (which i used to buy TR adding 10 bucks).

I should have waited a couple of weeks tho, the game dropped to 40 bucks super fast.

The platform with 6 times more gamers? Of course it'd sell more. DO NOT COMPARE CURRENT TO LAST GEN GAME SALES. Just don't.

PS3 has 6 times more gamers than X1 and X360 combined? Source pls. Besides, even that niche game Bloodborne did better. Over one million in under a month. One plattform.

It doesn't matter how you spin it, it didn't do MS any good and certainly doesn't help the X1 in the long term.

If I recall correctly, somebody said the last game sold like 3 million on PS3 alone, compared to (i assume )only Xbox One. I'm actually busy at work and can't check right now but that's the argument.

Bloodborne did great but all games aren't going to sell equally. Ps4 owners wanted bb more than XB1 owners wanted RotR. It didn't do any huge favors but it also doesn't hurt.

well well well, now can we all stop saying that the game bombed?

Attachment rates don't go hand in hand with the console sales, remember that. Also when comparing TR and RotTR sales you have to remember how both PS3 & 360 software sales plummeted in 2014 & 2015 due to the introduction of the 8th generation consoles. Naturally TR could have sold much better under "normal" conditions.

Anyways imo the exclusivity deal is stupid if the majority of the fanbase is on the other console, Tomb Raider started with Playstation and that's the bottom line...

And now to grab my popcorn...

Started with Saturn PS and Windows. You left that out

And then Sony moneyhatted the game when the majority of the fanbase was still on those platforms.

Whoosh

Tomb Raider (PS1) (Multiplat) - 4.63

Tomb Raider 2 (Ps1) (Exclusive) - 5.24

Great example of a great deal. Or moneyhat if the term suits you better.

The awesome for xbox!

You can go ask Greenberg if the numbers was combined between the both last gen and next gen console.
Microsoft have done the ''Combined numbers since launch PR trick'' so i don't consider the suggestion that it could be damage control at all, since the news actually comes from Mr.Greenberg and Microsoft. It's still 1 Mill sold=profits but a good amount of that numbers sure are on 360 as well.
I am sure a lot of people who went Ps4 who owns a 360 bought it on 360 as well, at least the die hard tomb raider fans.
It did good, but i don't believe it was all on the Xb1 because they didn't specify

So you wanted to come in and do anything you can to downplay the news? I'm willing to bet it hit over a million on Xbox One with 360 selling the lesser amount. However good tactical move on the downplay, make sure to hit up all the other Xbox One threads, some new ones you have not hit yet. Try to be creative, we are counting on you.

There's no need to downplay the news, 1 million is a small sales number.

In under 2 months on one system? So you also want to join the bandwagon? We have a blade sharpener for your axe if you need it...

It seems to be doing just fine or what's your magic number?  The last Tomb Raider did 6.23 million on 5 systems, so that is an average of 1.246,000. The highest system being 2.45 Million and that was seen as a massive success, this should easily reach 2 Million units on XBox One alone. Now please tell me why it's such a failure on Xbox One when it's producing just as good of numbers as the last TR that was seen as a success?

Seems you are not too knowledgeable. Last Tomb Raider sold 8.5mil+ .

Secondly, if you want to make a logical comparison, try doing it apples to apples. Ala, comparing it with Uncharted and Gears series.

Both Uncharted and Gears series easily sells 6mil+ on a single system.

I'm using Vgchartz numbers home boy. Check link, the only reason I mean the only reason for any one downing this is because it's on Xbox, simple as that. Have a nice day.
