Gears Bundle is rising, while COD bundle is dropping. Should be interesting, and I do think the first 3 months of the year will be close.

Considering the following, I will politefully disagree with you.

Jan: Amplitude, The Witness, and indies
(This is the best chance Xbox One has to remain close)

Feb: Street Fighter 5, Gravity Rush Remaster, Digimon Story, Call of Duty Black Op 3 (timed dlc exclusive), and more eastern exclusives
(The onslaught begins)

March: MLB 16 the Show (getting bigger every year), Heavy Rain, Witch and Hundred Knight REvival, Samurai Warrior 4 and more.
(The onslaught continues)

Forgot about Street Fighter V. Though in March, the XB1 does have The Division bundle, as well as marketing rights. So that should help them. But april and may will likely see the worst of it.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

They will, but will it succeed?

If they try and put a game against it then they'll regret it but they could have a great bundle to at least compensate a little.

It could just as well be an exercise in futility or big expenditure, but let's wait to see their moves.

We have made some comments in that direction here... it's almost certain by now that X1 will win this month.

Exclusive game in bundle versus MP that is from a weaker franchise will be a hard fight.

Yeah, I don't think this will make any real difference with hardware. The Tom Clancy Brand isn't big enough to materially influence hardware sales on the basis of a bundle and exclusive marketing. It's only really the mega franchises that influence hardware sales with exclusive bundles and marketing, and even in the case of Fallout 4 it's hard to really see if it had an influence in favour of Xb one. These sorts of deals probably benefit the leading console more than the trailing one.

Gap tends to be bigger in Q1. April and May are usually non factors even with exclusive games.

I somewhat agree with you there that tom clancy isn't a huge series but the Division is highly anticipated so i could see the Xbox winning march but march and February will definitely be a victory for PlayStation.

To be fair, the Ps4 sold a shit ton of units when bundled with Watchdogs, a new Ubisoft IP just like The Division.

BUT

The Xbox One version was confirmed to be running at 900p while the Ps4 most likely will be running at 1080p, and it has been proven that resolution matters when it comes to choosing a multiplat version, sales reflect that. So i don't think that it will make much difference.

Regardless of all that, Kudos to Microsoft for securing a high profile game like that.

Like I said, exclusive bundles tend to work better for the lead platform. When a platform is trailing and doesn't have the mojo for the generation then exclusive stuff for multiplat games just aren't going to have the same effect.

If the Division is all Xb one has to give it a push in march then it won't be enough to give it the NPD win. Xb one one April 2015 partly because it was $50 cheaper and partly because of Batman AA special edition PS4 pre-orders. And it still only managed to sneak in a $10K win. Xb one won October because of Halo 5. Xb one hasn't won a single month because of the power of a 3rd party exclusivity deal. Though with Nov 2015 we'll never know what might have been because PS4 had by far the better 3rd party exclusivity deals. I think MS would need to perhaps make a move on hardware as well, drop the 1TB sku into the $349 price bracket and disestablish the 500GB sku, and sell it at a discount through March. If they did that along with the Division they would win March unless Sony had something similar planned.

The Xbox One hasn't really ha any big third party deal outside Advanced Warfare which came out in Nov 2014. Except from FIFA games which arent big in the US and Madden which hasnt had a record of being a system seller.
