Forums - Microsoft - Ark: Survival Evolved ( Over 1 Million Downloads In Less Than 1 Week )

ARK: Survival Evolved launched worldwide into all regions of the Xbox Game Preview Program on Dec 16, and by the end of the first week we were blown away by the Jurassic number of new players experiencing the ARK universe (and we were scrambling to put up more servers)! In under a week ARK was downloaded over 1,000,000 times and Survivors had lasted a combined 200,000 real-life days against the dinosaurs and perils of the island, including other players! There’s no question that survival games have taken the PC world by storm lately, and as the only true large-scale multiplayer survival game available on console, perhaps it comes as no surprise that ARK’s daily Xbox One player count is already bigger than on PC.

Well deserved.

Yeah, it probably shouldn't be a surprise, as there are about a billion survival games on PC in Early Access. I always thought ARK looked really promising but I have little interest in the multiplayer dynamic. Looks like a great partnership for Xbox and the developers, though. Good call on that decision.

Really?.

Especially since the game has been out since summer and well it's not even complete but ok we'll roll with that.

Edit: After reading the article over a few times I can't help but think the writer is somehow trying to hamper whatever the PC version has or does to make XB1 look better, this of course comes to no absolute surprise since that's what's been going on between both Xbox and PS systems for a long time now, I guess PC is that extra rag doll to throw around.

Vasto is wrong. ARK has 2.3m owners on steam. http://steamspy.com/app/346110

Also I forgot to mention that there will no doubt be users on PC that simply don't like the early access approach and likely are still waiting till it's complete.

That and the end part to note is that at the end of the day that system will come to an end and it's eventual userbase will shift, on PC it simply won't, especially with custom servers in the mix.

I honestly don't know why they even needed to say "Hey look guys we know PC has had the game in ea for a few months now but look we've got the game now and you guys downloaded it X many times and you now have more users than that other platform!", to me that isn't even a selling point, it sounds more like a gloating one, there isn't much to gloat about when your platform can't handle the games recommended spec (because what we've seen on X1 is certainly not a mirror on PC) and is behind in terms of updates along with being in ea just like the other platform, if anything PS4 users will just get the complete game and then of course their userbase will dwarf X1's and no doubt we'll see an article like this one and we'll eventually come full circle in terms of understanding how pointless it was to pair one off against another.

I'd say the same thing for the xbox version. Because if you buy it now you only get an hour of play before the game comes out.  Im waiting for the summer release.

I played a good month with a close friend for a while but then I got burnt out and I too am just waiting on it's release.

That is the free trial, if you buy it you can play it so much you want...  Also the game is not available everywhere on xbox one yet.
