Forums - Gaming - Now that Minecraft has done amazing on the Wii U for Microsoft, will they and other companies start porting more exclusives over to other systems?

And btw, I may have to remeber you that a lot of mature games have been on Nintendo systems before: Eternal Darkness, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Resident Evil 4 are some of the best exemples. None of them were flops. Even with Bayonetta 2, if the game is around half milion sold (is probably more) it has actually a bigger attach ratting than Bloodborne on Ps4, 5 times bigger.

Not trying to start anything, really, but among your best examples for mature games on Nintendo consoles being successful, the most recent example is over 11 years old.

That's because the Wii was very casual friendly and I only mentioned some the most important ones, but games like CoD and R4 had good sales on Wii anyway.

And the older I mentioned is Bayonetta 2, that may have sold poor, but thats because wiiu userbase is small, however the attach rate is pretty good, so there is a public for those kinds of games on Nintendo systems that shouldnt be ignored, but it depends a lot on the system success.

Unlikely

A form of Mario Maker on ios would sell trillions!

You mean it would be downloaded for free by millions.

The average consumer isn;t going to pay for a game.

Microsoft should just buy Nintendo. End of story.

Nintendo makes games for Xbox One, Windows Phone and Windows 10... Let Microsoft build the network (XBL) for it and let bigger Nintendo games (Zelda, Metroid, maybe even Pokémon) run on a more powerful machine.

Awesomeness achieved.

I dont think you understand how bussiness works do you??

No, because Minecraft wasn't an exclusive to begin with :/

Nope.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Ah no wii u owners wouldn't buy Halo 5 or Bloodbourne, Minecraft is as casual as it gets, tis why its successful on Wii U.

It's cute that people still buy into this whole "casual vs hardcore" marketing gimmick about Nintendo.

Especially when Xenoblade X is doing as well as it is.

yeah that crowd bounced a while ago

Well if you think Nintendo can be a profitable business and Xbox can be a profitable business, why shouldn't it be profitable when they are working together?

Actually I can see lots of benefits for consumers and both companies.
Let's face it, Nintendo is fighting to survive these days. Wii U bombed and handhelds are on their way out thanks to smartphones.

A joint-venture with Microsoft would be awesome. MS covers the huge costs for R&D and build (finally) a powerful console for Nintendo again. MS builds the online infrastructure (Xbox Live) so that Nintendo can (finally) make their online gaming fun. Nintendo concentrates on what they can do best: Build games.

MS gets the benefit that they finally get a userbase in Japan and a better position in Europe outside of UK and Scandinavia.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Nintendo is making money even with Wii U, and now they will launch mobile games, completely new NX platform and they start to aggressively use their IPs. Nintendo can cover the costs for R&D and build powerful console itself, if they want. DeNA is making now online Infracstructure for Nintendo. Nintendo online gaming is very fun currently, Mario Kart, Smash Bros and Splatoon all works without any problems and they are very fun. Nintendo is always concentrates on what they can do best, building games.

Gaming division don't earn much money for Microsoft, I am not sure that they at end of day from first Xbox till today they have made profit at all, on other hand they would need to pay 10 of billions of dollars for Nintendo and not knowing at all if that will change anything. If MS really thinks that buying Nintendo would be good move for them, they would buy them long ago, but also I dont think that Nintendo is for sale at all. :)

Bad example because Minecraft isn't exclusive to any platform at all.

Totally agree. Minecraft never was exclusive, so this thread is pointles.
