Hahaha I will take that challenge cheif!   MGSV, Bloodborne, Fallout, Until Dawn, and even Tomb Raider beat that game!

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

[Prediction Made 6/18/2014]

Well... I want to say Bound by flame. Because i really love that game and just wish there was more of it.

But i also played FFT:The war of the lions this year (had already played the PS1 version a long time ago) and its still one of my favorite games of all time. Its a bit unfair to compare other games to it. Its a juggernaut.

Overall though, my habit to leave the best for last had me play alot of bad games this year, wich is making me be way more selective about my picks. I just don't have enough time to play everything and i would rather delve more deeply in those i really enjoy than playing games that really don't live up to my expectations.

Average list.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Hmm, can I say FFXII if I only played like 12 mins this year but played 120+ hours back when it released??
No serious answer though is Rocket League. Its taken up most of my year, Ive barely played another game since it launched.

Are you good now so we can play?

Witcher 3 for sure

Honorable mention to Taken King though. Destiny 2.0 proved to be a lot better than I initially expected it to be.

No, obviously Im garbage
Only just started playing Standard again today since Snow Day dropped so its actually kinda weird and taking some time to get used too again.
Oh also being an Aussie makes it impossible to play with anyone outside of ANZ without stupid amounts of lag -__-

So first of all, you may be asking, what is even a GPTY? Fear not, I'll make it clear!
GPTY stands for: Game Played This Year
It's how I just choose to call the best games I've played this year, not necessarily meaning they were released this year, just that I've played'em this year, so to give a perspective of how was this year regarding gaming to me.

I'll be picking 3 games, and you can join me (or not), be it with just the GPTY, with a top 3, 5, 10, you choose, just have to be about games you played/finished FOR THE FIRST TIME this year, so yeah, games you have already played and replayed this year doesn't count, gotta keep your GPTYs fresh!

And without further ado, here I go:

3. Persona 3

This game was the one I've played the most this year, clocking over 120 hours on it, I got completey addicted on that game.
From the social aspects of the game as going to the school, activities and bonding with characters daily (also in order to improve my fighting capabilities with new and stronger s.links) to the dungeon crawling aspects and some hard battles to even the unforgiven game overs with just the leader dying, this game was a blast to me. It was always interesting and fun, had suspense and a lot to do...
It even seems strange to a game I liked this much to be just the top 3.
*I've given my considerations about this game as part of my RPG thread series here if you are interested into going deeper into my toughts about the game, you can read it here.

2. Metal Gear Solid 3

Definitely the best non-RPG game I've played this year, this game was greatness all over it.
Playing through 1 to 3 in a row, this one took me more time than both 1 and 2 combined, and I absolutely loved it.
The survival part and all the codex conversations, the more open exploration, all the options for uniform and face paint to blend better with the envyronments, the really amazing story and specially the ending, the awesome boss fights... everything went together so well in this game, so damn well.
I would actually consider this one to be the best game easily in a couple of other GPTYs and the reason it's not also topping this list it's because of my weak spot for RPGs, because when one really strikes me, it's hard to top it. And that was what happened.

1. Final Fantasy IX

And this was what happened, Final Fantasy IX. My GPTY goes to it.
Was some damn long time since a game got me loving it so purely as this one, coming also from a trilogy row playthrough from VII to IX, it got me so hard it's not even funny for the other two.
Also clocking considerably longer than the other two, this was a game I felt like I didn't want it to ever end, playing it was a pleasure from beginning to end, doing all the chocobo treasure hunts, making sure to make every char learn every skill they possible could from equips or unique traits, and smiling from a side to side in complete happiness (not creepiness!) by the lovely music, atmosphere and characters, it makes me happy just writting about it.

So this is it guys, my GPTY top picks and the winner, as you can see this reflects very well gaming year, gone playing old stuff and catching up while also really enjoying doing so! Hope you enjoyed reading as well.

What about you?

FF9 is still my all-time favorite FF game.

My top 3 that i played this year:

1. Fallout 4

2. The Witcher 3

3. Shovel Knight

Here's mine:

3. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
2. Dead Rising 2
1. The Last of Us
