Rocket League only sold so much because it was free on PSN.

I find odd that Batman AK is in the top 25, you'd think the refunds alone would take the game out of the best selling list.

Steamspy can't take refunds into account. It's just a crawler that goes through public profiles and then extrapolates. I doubt they're checking the accounts twice.

You see games rise and then decrease after free weekends though.

Maybe that's part of the extrapolation algorithm. I heard they have only a very limited capacity of the crawler and I don't think they would waste it on rechecking profiles. Though maybe they do recheck some times. Refunds and free weekends are poison to the algorithm and I think they're trying to adjust it as good as possible.

As far as I know, refunds and free weekends aren't poison to the algorithm but to the data instead. I believe I've read the issue is with free games getting assigned to the accounts when they go online during the event, but not being unassigned from the account until it's online again. Considering these events occur during weekends when a lot of people are active, the games get assigned to a lot of accounts, but a lot of those people might not log in during the week, leaving the games lingering on their accounts because they don't get updated.

Also MGSV is very good and just proves it's sales across all platforms were very healthy.

I don't agree with their surprises. I am mostly surprised by the sales of Rocket League (So high), Total War Attila (So low), and Age of empires 2 hd in US chart.
