Best Written Story: Planescape: Torment
Deepest Gameplay: Baldur's Gate II
Most Entertaining Gameplay: Diablo 2
Most Replayed: Fallout 2
Longest Played: World of Warcraft

Oh I know about the relation between Symphonia and Abyss. I own both and have played both. I had far more fun, however, playinjg Abyss. Largely because of the free movement system, which was one of the big lures of SO2 (previous holder of TotA's title on my list, and the reason why it's my most played RPG).

I'm actually playing TotA right now, lol. I find the free movement ability to be, well, tacked on isn't the correct word, but at this point I don't have much of a use for it.

I do, however, love the game, but again, the story to me isn't as great as Symphonia so far, and the characters are less interesting(though I do love Guy).

Still, even though to me, its lesser than Symphonia, that's not to say its better than most RPG's I've ever played, because it is. It has an undeniable charm, and a fantastic story by its own right.

Another game for consideration:

Shadow Hearts: Covenant

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Gladius is my all time favorite RPG...

Geez if we're counting SRPG's too I'm in a pickle

RPG wise i'd say Earthbound.  It's just so... out there and fun.  FF6 is close because it's story is so grand.... but Earthbound is just wacky fun.  I'm having my girlfriend make me a Mr. Saturn T-shirt like Ness has in Brawl.

Though SRPG wise, Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together is just of such a serious and amazing scope story wise... and i like the gameplay better.

I'll go begrudingly Earthbound.

The funny thing with Symphonia and Abyss is, you usually see people's preferences go with the one they play first. And I played Abyss first. Though having the same movement system as SO2 gave it huge kudos in my book, so I suspect it would still have topped Symphonia for me personally if I'd played that one first instead.

You know I've never in my life played Earthbound. Is it worth going back and playing it somehow(wink wink /loads up IRC)? Or not? Does it hold up till the test of time? Man, I wish it would release on VC.

EarthBound is one of those games that was quirky visually even when it was released. Much like modern equivalents such as Okami, the visual style continues to hold up because it goes for a very stylized appearance. EarthBound appears, at first glance, to be almost child-like in art style, but after a while you realize that the simplicity of it could almost be likened to cel shading: a less-is-more approach that works brilliantly.

2. Chrono Trigger
3. Final Fantasy 4
4. Final Fantasy 6
5. Final Fantasy 7

Sad isn't it? the day of the good RPG died with FF7 on PS1 which I would argue that FF7 itself killed it, it became so popular that all other RPGs wanted to be it, even the FF games after wanted to capture that popularity, but bottom line FF7 barely makes my top 5 as I have half a mind to put Paper Mario TTYD or Super Mario RPG in its place

Why don't you shut the fuck up maxwell, i never said anything about yours so don't say anything about mine.
