Forums - Microsoft - Would it make sense for Microsoft to make Minecraft 2 Xbox exclusive?

This is Microsoft we're talking about, so of course they're going to try something like that at some point. It's a bad idea of course, going against the thing (ubiquity) that made Minecraft such a phenomenon to begin with.

A short timed exclusive and some exclusive content for their platform would make sense. Everything else wouldn't make sense business wise as their platforms doesn't have much casual gamers they would like. iOS and Android are pretty much majority cut casual gamers, Console wise PS4 would have more casual gamers as they follow the one with the larger sales/friends base.

I'd say no, due to the history behind the first Minecraft. However they could make the Xbox One Version the best console version to try and get more to buy it on their console than the others.

Even if they own it, making it exclusive wouldn't be the wisest thing for the finances. I mean, they've had a good example this year.

No x 1,000,000. Their biggest market is PC - where it started and has always been best. In fact if they made "Minecraft 2" Xbox Only, it would make 95% of the community regard like we regard the Star Wars prequels.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

I don't think it would make any sense. Xbone sales are fine and they want to make money with Minecraft so I'm sure it'll be on PC/Mobile/PS/Nintendo too.

Everything is possible, but then with that mentality, Micro releasing their exclusive IPs in competing platforms would make as much sense.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:
