Uncharted's textures do NOT have that fugly plastic look that you see on so many games these days. All of the textures were hand-drawn as they were not going for a photo-realistic look. The most impressive texture work I've ever seen can be found in Uncharted.

That screenshot with the rocks is deceiving as the water is actually moving and when in motion it looks entirely different.


Not only rocks in the water looks plastic. As I said. I need to find that game and to play it. Only then I can judge it. The best water graphics for me you can find in Bioshock.

Why nobody mention Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, Unreal tournament 3? How about them?

Dude i am not talking about game play since I ve only played it for an hour,,,I am talking only about the ingame graphics.

As far as i know the game play could be awesome,,I never diss a game play/story of a game that I ahven't played for a considerable amount of time.the in game graphics are good but not great,,,cutsscenes on the other hand look pretty impressive

Thats my point. The majority of the video on this thread was ingame. You said it was all cgi. It's not. It's game graphics except for the first 3 minutes.

Since when does how real something is have to do with graphics? Naughty dog said they wanted the game to look more cartoonish than photorealistic.


If I was 15 years old I will probably think like you, but I'm 30 years old male. I start playing games 15 years ago with Wolfenstein 3D. Doom, Heretic, Hexen, Blood, Quake - I miss this days. Nobady can attract me with games that look like cartoons. I stop watching cartoon many years ago. If for you Ratchet & Clank is best off, for me it doesn't.

And by the way gametrailers "Best Graphics" for 2007 is Call Of Duty 4 (Crysis was out due to big hardware requirements). Gamespot "Best Graphics" for 2007 - Crysis.


 Gametrailers did the worst move they can ever make, when call of duty 4 was released a reviewer stated that uncharted was the first PS3 games to seperate its self from Xbox 360 software graphicly. He also stated it was without a doubt the best looking console game. This game came out after call of duty 4, why did cod4 win? Not a clue.

Outside Crysis gametrailers give it to Call of Duty 4

I will base mine on having played them all on the same TV. But I also consider fluidity of characters and framerates in my assessment of graphics.

1 Gears of War
2 Ratchet & Clank
3 Lost Odyssey
4 Uncharted
5 Mass Effect
6 Resistance

Honorable additional mentions Halo 3 and UT III that I would put both above Resistance.

Cos reviews are made by one reviewer. Best off - by all of them. Different people like different things.

Look - TopCat8, selnor, Riot Of The Blood put Ratchet & Clank before Uncharted. For me Ratchet & Clank need to be on the last place. I don't like cartoons like games. That is why I don't like most of wii games too.

Good graphics aren't just about realism, and I prefer R&C and LO's stylized, artistic approaches to the other four.

Then again, I think the game with the best graphics so far this gen is Rez HD. So I might just be crazy.
