I've noticed that a lot of GOTY lists have been leaving "Xenoblade X" out in the cold. Do you think this is the result of its late release date, or just that the game isn't getting any respect?

I, for one, have been completely captured by it. The game is massive, funny, and highly addictive. It's certainly in the mix for my personal GOTY - what about the rest of you? Do you think it deserves more accolades than it has received?

In a year containing Fallout 4, the Witcher 3, Bloodborne, and Metal Gear Solid V, you can't really expect Xenoblade X to really compete for game of the year.

It's an excellent game, but there are also other masterpieces out there.

The game is already highly rated and recieved way more attention for an rpg (a wii u exclusive nonetheless) despite it's many shortcomings. So no, it's not underrated.

The funny thing is, those games you listed all made me yawn. The Witcher 3 was somewhere in the middle, Bloodborne was seriously just a grindfest all over again with FROM Software's same ol' formula, MGS5 wasn't that great, and Fallout 4 is the lawlz, let's just be real here, as far as good games go, 2015 was a fucking joke overall.

Whether you like those games or not has no bearing on what the general consensus agrees on. Personally I'm not the biggest fan when it comes to rpgs, but seeing as how the general consensus agrees that those 4 games should be highly rated, I set aside my personal bias, see why they say so, and in this case agree with them. And yeah, I did prefer 2014 games, but that makes no difference on choosing the best of 2015

I only responded because you used the words "master pieces," come on now lol, let's just be real.

No, it's very flawed.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Or maybe you nintendo fans are overrating it because this is virtually the first time Nintendo has released anything that is openworld for you to explore in. While the rest of the world has been spoiled with games like GTA/fallout/assassins creed/far cry for years already.

XC was open world too. It's funny how Zelda was one of the first open world games ever made too. But, yeah, let's take the credit from them.

It is definitly underrated in Metacritic. When you see a game like MGV at 91 or GTAIV at 96... XCX at 84 looks very underrated.

And btw, for what I understand, December counts like month 1 for the next year in the Game Awards. So if the game is ever nominated for anything, it would be on 2016.

Reading through the reviews, I'd say it is rated fairly. Especially when considering how much hype it got ( mainly before the Japanese release, the standards were quietly lowered after that ) when all positional criticism were rejected by the die-hard fans. they needed it to be the best Jrpg out there. Specifically, better than that certain flagship jrpg... Good old times.

From what I gathered, It has issues with the quest design and pacing, thin story and characters, technical shortcomings mostly in the hub city, and complicated systems without a proper explanation... I might add the the infamous topic of lackluster character models and animation, and the questionable choice of soundtracks and lyrics "Not to sound cliche, but this world sucks" ... Yeah.

No review gave the game a full mark (Edit: on Metacritic). So these issues are hard to ignore, they do compromise the experience, Still, most of who actually played the game would agree that that game is good, or even great.

Nope, a lot of flaws were overlooked in many reviews. Not to mention its sitting at 84 on metacritic which is pretty good.

If anything it's over rated.

Maybe my word choice was poor. I don't necessarily think it should WIN game of the year, I was just suggesting it should have made more lists (as a contender).

"Mario Maker" and "Splatoon" seem to be making most lists, while "X" has been mostly snubbed.

On an interesting note "Fallout 4" shared it's Metacr tic score with "Xenoblade" the last time that I checked.
