Forums - Gaming - What's the lowest price this gen's hardware is going to get?

$149€. I don't see (normal) prices going lower because inflation has surely had an effect on the lowest pricepoints. I'm not counting out new models that are cheaper to manufacture though, but I'm not expecting to see anything like the 12 GB PS3 model, because lots of mass storage is a must now.

Where can you find a 18€ PS TV?

Media Markt Gründau-Lieblos (Germany)

I guess they are just selling what is left, but still nobody wants the poor thing. xD

It's dirt cheap, I was about to buy one here when I saw it was less than 50€. Then I checked memory card prices and was like 'NO, NEVER'. Sony killed Vita with those memory card prices.

I'm still hoping for 3rd parties to develop some kind of Vita SD card knockoff that makes Sony drop the prices, or sell the memories cheaper. A 32GB card is 20-30€ more expensive than a PS TV. I could almost find second hand Vitas at the same price.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I know that for the cameras there was memory stick pro from other brands (not much cheaper), are you sure PS Vita don't have alternatives?

Not that I'm aware of. But I suppose that, if there were alternatives, the official prices wouln't probably be that expensive. Supply and demand.

Well, if they have no big plans to cut price and better support the system, they could hold official price on unreal levels while knock off run rampant.

$249.99 (plus game)

Hard to say, I just realized a couple of weeks back that a PS3 still costs around 2500SEK here, which is only about 1000 less than a PS4, so even 7th gen consoles are still sort of expensive. I don't think we'll see any spectacular prices in the 8th gen either; Nintendo has had little wiggle room for dropping prices and are way past the mark where it matters much, Sony simply hasn't needed a lower price yet and also need to make good profits in all their divisions so they'll take it easy on the price cuts, MS won't waste money needlessly as long as Sony doesn't drop their prices a lot.

We heard all the time people saying Sony needs the HW profits and that they won't take price cuts, even though twice have Sony CEO and Playstation President say that growing install base take precedente over margin on HW.

Software sales make up the majority of profits anyway, so I understand that, of course. But, as long as they're doing well at current price point, they won't lower it for no reason. The effects of 50$ cuts are sometimes rather small anyway and I don't think 75 or a whole 100 is in any way reasonable to expect any time soon.
