Not true at all. I played my first Zelda (ALttP) 5 or 6 years ago and it became one of my favorite games ever. Same goes for OoT and Majora's Mask which I played shortly after.

The fact that some people are capable of do that doesn't mean is the best option. Like... you can get trough a mountain with a tunnel by climbing it, but the tunnel is the easiest and most comfortable option.

I see what you mean but from what I'm gathering, Zelda seems to be one of those franchises that aged really well. I for one loved it despite playing it late.

Thats true, but believe me ALttP today would be pretty hard for majority of gamers, few months ago I start to replay ALttP and I ended using walkthrough several times. That I think that ALttP is not best choice for first Zelda game.

Indeed, but players nowadays are used to far more simple games than te ones we played in our time (or play). I know that ALttP and Ocarina have aged well (Ocarina a little less), but I just think that in general it might be too complex for a first Zelda contact. I still think that any portable game of the series does the job better. They are not the best games of the series, but as a way to introduct the franchise core gameplay while being easy and not too long in my opinion they are perfect. And once you've finished it, you are fully ready for something more challenging.

But of course, if someone is up to the challenge, they can start with whatever they want xD

If you had ever tried to get someone new into Zelda you know that any 3D Zelda, ALttP and the first Zelda are just terrible options. You are thinking on which games would you like to play, not which one should a novice pick up first.

Umm, what does that leave then?  Sounds like you are limiting this to the handheld Zelda games?

That's correct

The answer to all Zelda questions is always A Link to the Past.

Bingo, By far my favorite zelda and also got a link between 2 worlds on my 3ds.

I don't think at all that WW HD is bad option for first Zelda, I think its best option alongside with OoT 3DS.

I don't know... I've tried to get three different people into Zelda. Two with Wind Waker, one with ALBW. The ones that started with TWW were just overwhelmed by Forsaken Fortress. THE FIRST GODDAMN DUNGEON.  One quited at Dragon Roost Island and the other in the dungeon of that island. They said it was too difficult and that sailing was really boring. Meanwhile, the one that started ALBW not only finished the game, but when he did, he started Wind Waker an beat it too.

I know, three people is not everyone and I know what you're thinking, the ones that played Wind Waker are not really good at gaming. Buy my point stands: while anyone could potentially start from any game in the series, I think that the portable entries are better options for a beginner.

We are talking about WW or WW HD? Beacuse WW HD definitely is more accessible and enyjible because of thing Nintendo changed, similar could say for OoT 3DS.

Yes, you can easily lost in Forsaken Fortress and now knowing where exactly you need to go, but ALTTP for instance almost whole game is like that. I guess ALBW is another good example for first Zelda game.

It was the Gamecube version. I know that with the swift sail and other changes things get better (a lot better, in fact, once I played the HD version I can't go back to the original anymore xD). But even then... is still a 3D enviroment. I know I'm stubborn, but I still believe that a 2D enviroment is better to start.

Yes, ALttP is probably one of the worst options to beginners. I tried to beat the game like two months ago and I needed a guide multiple times.

I am stubborn too. :)

My point is if someone prefer home console gaming, than WW HD would be best choice, if someone prefers handheld gaming OoT 3DS would be best choice. ALBW would also be good choice, but 2D handheld Zelda's are quite different than 3D Zelda's, that's why I think OoT 3DS is better choice than ALBW for first Zelda.
