Yes, you can easily lost in Forsaken Fortress and now knowing where exactly you need to go, but ALTTP for instance almost whole game is like that. I guess ALBW is another good example for first Zelda game.

It was the Gamecube version. I know that with the swift sail and other changes things get better (a lot better, in fact, once I played the HD version I can't go back to the original anymore xD). But even then... is still a 3D enviroment. I know I'm stubborn, but I still believe that a 2D enviroment is better to start.

Yes, ALttP is probably one of the worst options to beginners. I tried to beat the game like two months ago and I needed a guide multiple times.

My point is if someone prefer home console gaming, than WW HD would be best choice, if someone prefers handheld gaming OoT 3DS would be best choice. ALBW would also be good choice, but 2D handheld Zelda's are quite different than 3D Zelda's, that's why I think OoT 3DS is better choice than ALBW for first Zelda.
