I've logged over 100 hours on the game doing various things, i set out to max some stats out but gave up. Put it this way you can get your characters up to lvl 9,999 and it still won't be max. There is so much to do, hope that helps.

Disgaea sells terribly. If it did as well as fire emblem, the makers would be ecstatic. So saying that the lack of hardcore base will lead to poor sales is stupid, the sales are already piss poor. If half the fire emblem fans picked up Disgaea it would be a success.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

Because your such a noob at this genre. NOOB!!!!!!!!!

So are you :P And FE: RD is said to be one of the hardest SRPGs ever :P |
So your going to try and take a stab at that game then? Go ahead and try me, I'm trying Jeanne D'Arc one of the best SRPG's out there right now other than Disagea. So take that noob!!!!!!...LOL
| wenlan said: A bit too hardcore. How many Wii users will be interested in SRPG? |
Well, I certainly know that I am, and probably anyone who bought Fire Emblem. I'm a huge SRPG fan, and I think the Wii's userbase is so diverse that there is a niche audience there for that kind of game. The "Wii is a casual console" argument is pretty much dead, at this point, considering how many hardcore gamers own the system amongst the "casual" userbase, as a second or primary console, and judging by the sales of some of the recent "hardcore" games on the system.
SRPG's have a niche audience on all consoles, and will never blow us away with their sales debuts, but honestly, claiming them as a Sony only enterprise is foolish when a majority of them are released on the DS(a nintendo system) anyway.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.

Are you actually saying to me that Final Fantasy Tactics, one of my personal favorite games ever created(and take it from me, I'm no n00b, in fact, my gaming history is as robust as any reviewer on the internet I would wager) is worse than dog poop?
You must be crazy. I can't believe anyone would say that. Have you played Final Fantasy Tactics all the way through? Did you play it recently, or at the time of its original release. Don't make me hunt you down. You can't just pull that shit out of your ass and not explain what you meant.
Also:
Best SRPG's are in this order:
Final Fantasy Tactics > Disgaea 1 > Fire Emblem Series > Disgaea 2 > Ogre Tactics > Phantom Brave/La Pucelle
These are your must play games:
Final Fantasy Tactics
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
All of these games are in two words: Life Changing
An infinite amount of hours can be spent on each one, and you will worry about them being too in depth before the end of your experience with them. These stories are magnificance. The depth to the main characters will make you love them forever, and the depth of their battle systems will make you fall in love all over again.
The most immediatly loveable game is Disgaea: Hour of Darkness for the PS2. If you have to choose one to start with, I recommend that one. Don't let it overwhelm you.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
Do you guys think I should go and find Disgaea 1/2 for the ps2? I've never played a Disgaea before, but I've heard they're hilarious, and I love the artstyle.

I've beaten it. Played it once after it came out and once again last year. Though I couldn't bear to finish it the 2nd time around.
The characters are boring and unremarkable, the story is one big meh that completely fails to make me care about any of it, the combat might be mediocre but grinding sucks any fun it might have right out, and the game just fails to be exciting at any level.
I have a good friend who loves FFT so I really tried to sympathize with him, but I just can't...
| darconi said: How is Disgaea DS anyway? Considering maybe picking that up... Which would be better, Disgaea or FFT or FE? |
Disgaea - Funny, too much grinding, decent customize. (note to making since i've already replied enough in this thread. Disgaea 2 you can probably still find in stores. Last time I was in Toys R Us they had a bunch of em.)
FE - Good story, very challenging, almost no customizing.
FFT- Lame Story, easy, lots of customizing.
FFTA - better story then FFT, easy, lots of customizing though slightly less then FFT proper.
Maybe we'll get a Wii game like Soul Nomad and the World Devourers. I've still gotta get that.
I'd go FFTA over FFT honestly. It's a way better game then FFT (aka war of the Lions.)
