Disgaea is as hardcore as Fire Emblem and FE:RD already is doing extremely well sales wise for a SRPG so -1 for the too hardcore statement. That argument has been killed to death already.

Same with me, dude (diving into SRPGs). I will try my hand with FE. |
I made a thread yesterday asking for tips about the battle system. It seems like I'm reading and I'm buying either Jeanne D'Arc or Disgaea: Hour of Darkness for the PSP. If I like then you bet Willy Bob I will be a fan of this genre :D
Edit: And BTW I think you will like Fire Emblem for the Wii, its a nice start for you age :P

"Took a lot out of" you? In what way? Too long? Too hard? If yes to both, and one comes to Wii, DO WANT. |
Very immersive and addictive.

Thats what I'm talking about bro :)
You responded in my other thread yesterday and gave me some tips and I appreciate that. I will definitely look into this genre.

Definitely, i start law school in the fall so no more long SRPGs for me but def recommend them.
Speaking of disgaea, how do the sales for these games typically go? The VGChartz database has this:
Disgaea 3 0.09m
Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness (New Edition) 0.03m
Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness 0.09m
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness 0.00m
Disgaea 2 0.15m
Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories 0.00m
Disgaea Portable 0.04m
Obviously not all of those are right (like the 0 sales) but surely they must've done better than that. Anyone got numbers?

Depends on what you mean but i would have to say no there is very little to explore from what i remember.

Disgaea 1 had very limited copies in the U.S. i remember the game selling for insane amounts in ebay and such.
| wenlan said: A bit too hardcore. How many Wii users will be interested in SRPG? |
Fire Emblem sales would suggest about 500k users.

Disgaea DS is not out yet. @wenlan And FE: Radiant Dawn isn't "hardcore"? |
@Soriku
Yes it is. Look at the sale # of Radiant Dawn in Japan.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't think Wii users would be into SRPG that much. Especially for a cult SRPG like Disgaea. The hardcore fans for Disgaea must have purchased the PS3 version already, or they are still busy with their PS2/PSP Disgaea games.
The development cost of Disgaea on Wii may be far higher than porting it from PS2 to PSP, otherwise NIS must have been working on it already.

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo
