Forums - Nintendo - My Devils Third Review

I was excited for Devils Third since it was first announced for the Wii U, so I got it the day it came out here in America despite all the negative reviews it got. And I am glad I did because I think its great... I beat the game last night and I thought the story mode was really fun. I thought the ending was anticlimactic and none of the characters really seemed that fleshed out. I thought they were all cool and all looked cool but the game didnt do a good job of telling you much about them or making me care about them. Graphically I thought the character models looked really good. The enviroments were not as impressive but nothing awful. I remember seeing a truck that looked terrible when it released in the UK. I could not find that truck anywhere in the game, I saw a truck that looked a little bit like it and I went up close to it and it looked fine it had geometry in the tires so I am not sure if they cleaned up the graphics on the american version but I did not see anything that looked that bad while playing. The physics in the game are buggy though. Dead characters get stuck in walls and float in the air but its not that big of a deal.

Gameplay is kind of frustrating sometimes. Like when aiming, I feel like the gun moves way to far when I just barely tap the joy stick but I am getting used to it. I finished second a few times in battle royale online so I am getting better. Also personally I hate clicking the joystick down to run but that is just a personal thing I know that is common in videogames and most people dont mind it.

As far as online goes they have a lot of modes that I have yet to even play. They are coming out the 15th. What I have played is very fun, I just  hate how long it takes for everything to get selected and then for the match to start. Also not many people have this game so it takes some time to get 16 people playing. But I kind of like seeing the same names I feel like I have a personal vendetta against a few people. But money you earn by leveling up and all the gear you can get really makes me want to keep playing.

Overall I really like the game and am glad I got it and I personally do not understand all the negative reviews this game got. Did they fix some of these problems in the American version? I really doubt it but I feel like what game were other people playing because I think its awesome. Like a mix between No More Heroes and Call Of Duty.

If anyone lives where I used to live in Tennessee there are still 10 copies within a 100 mile radius.

Chicagoland....2 copies and I don't get paid till Thursday!

Damn. Only 10? I wonder how many Nintendo actually shipped.

I think when one looks at a consensus of reviews for a game they should realize that this is less of a hard and fast number and more the peak of a bell curve. If a game has a metacritic in the 40's and 50's it's likely that most people would not enjoy it, but you could always be the odd man out.

Similar things can occur with high scoring games as well, and while most people enjoy it you can certainly see those who don't and fall on the low end of the bell curve of likely opinion.

Just a thought I had while reading the thread.

Well put. That's exactly what metacritic is. An collection of reviews where the final number is just the mean. Doesn't mean a game is good or bad. Instead it tries to show the probability that the average person will like the game

How did you like Devils third?

Haven't touched it, just started XCX on my WiiU and before that I only had Mario Kart iirc.  Just thought of that due to the comments of how the OP disagrees with the review consensus.

I want the game, it looks fun. But its going for $200 already, and no store has it in stock close to me. Digital ain't an option.
