Forums - Nintendo - People keep asking how Nintendo can let garbage out like Devil's Third, but then they ignore games such as Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival or Mario Tennis U

Devil's Third for me suits my taste than buying day 1 Mario Tennis and Amiibo Festival.
Different demographics though. Mario tennis is not a $60 game, they should add more content into it, just a stop gap. Same with Amiibo Festival, people would just buy AC amiibos for collection than buy AC Amiibo Festival for $60. The game should be free if people bought a number of AC amiibos.

That's the sad part, I can see Mario Tennis selling decently on brand name alone, which will send the message to Nintendo that its okay to churn out half-baked tripe.

I sincerely hope not. Fans have the opportunity to send a message with these games, and I hope people don't screwed this up. At least, the Animal Crossing brand name wasn't enough to keep it bombing. I'm waiting the same for Mario Tennis. But, well, let's see what happens next. Opinions on forums and internet are not precisely positive, but that doesn't reflect the general market.

Yeah, I really want Ultra Trash to flop, but the Mario name may be enough to carry it. Look at Mario Party 10; that game was crap and widely disliked, but it's sold over a million already on brand name.

Well, I don't mind a lot about MP because it's what it is, a filler board game, and it didn't feel so... rushed. True, it's not precisely an awesome  and ambitious game (far away from it), but it has new modes, makes a different use from the game pad, it has more than one board (Mario Tennis only have ONE stadium), different mini-games and it's not a shame compared to the previous ones (arguably, but I think all MP were more or less the same). Mario Tennis is just awful compared to the previous ones. More tematic stadiums, characters, power-ups, a decent online mode... could make a decent and worthy game. But it feels like it take 2 months to do, maximum.

Guess all we can do is cross our fingers, and do our part by not buying it, haha.

I really hope Wii U gamers don't let Nintendo slide on this one. If they start thinking they can get away with this sort of crap, things will get worse for us.

Do you think they should've delayed Ultra Smash or Amiibo Festival considering the short amount of development time they probably had? I kinda feel bad for the developers since they could only do so much in so little time, especially in the era of HD, which Nintendo acknowledged, early on this gen, that they underestimated HD development.

I think they should have planned ahead better so that they didn't have to choose between a rushed product and a delay.

Sadly, I suspect so.

The Nintendo fanbase seems almost masochistic at times. No matter how vocal the complaints, the games still sell alright. Even Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival, which was viciously crucified online, is on course to crawl its way to half a million or so.

I suspect (it might not be the case and I'm not trying to be elitist of something, so "sorry" in advance") that most of the copies are:

1. Parents buying the game from their children. It's Animal Crossing, what could possibly go wrong? (He, if only they knew...)

2. Animal Crossing fanboys (not fan of the term "fanboy", but it's for distinguish them from the AC fans) who buy all AC stuff that's out.

I very much doubt any of these purchases are because of the actual game or its "quality". I don't see a lot of people who's informed about what the game is about will buy it. So, yeah, brand name might give the game maybe like 400/500k copies, but that's it. I honestly think that it's a bomb because it's an AC game, which is suposed to sell a gazillion copies. And I think the same thing goes to Mario Tennis, although maybe it will sell more because it's a better game (even if it's shit).

Not the same, Mario Party 10 is a trash for you and for me, but there is a ton of fans of this moderns mario party games and MP10 gives them most of what they wanted, so is a weak game that does its work, but Mario Tennis is a game that gives you way less than any other Mario Tennis ever, so is a big dissapointment for all Mario Tennis fans. Just look user scores oin meta, Mario tennis is on red numbers, fans hate it.
