Wow, that is both insulting and idiotic. Even some of the lowest shovelware games out there are able to sell some thousand units throughout its lifspam. Do they think that an exclusive title backed by a big publisher won't sell a couple thousand units, much less 450?

People know this game won't sell. Not only was there no hype for it, it was recieved poorly by critics, and goes completely against the market for the wii u (as does bayonetta 2, but that was recieved well and had a good amount of marketing). It doesn't matter who the publisher is behind it, people know this game is gonna flop and they are going to prepare accordingly

I know this game won't sell that much. There is little to no hype for it, and critics have been very harsh on it. But just 450 copies outside of preorders is still an incredibly small amount for the entire NA region. Even shovelware can sell more than a couple thousand units on the biggest market for the WiiU.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Bear in mind, everybody, that this figure, nor the full details of its source, is not confirmed. It's stated that GameStop (no mention of which department, could have just been a store clerk looking at the usually-poor stock tracker or just making something up) mentioned that it had 420 units available on its online store -- GameStop is not the sole retailer for North America and the figure likely doesn't include any pre-ordered or already sold copies.

It's likely to be a low print run, especially since it seems like Nintendo of Europe overprinted the title (it's still readily available from a bunch of European and Oceanic retailers four months after release), but >=1,000 seems too low for the largest market. If it is really low though (under 5,000 units), Nintendo of America could likely encourage more sales by confirming as such as there's a decent market for rare or perceived rare titles (just look at things like Breach & Clear (PSV), Retro City Rampage DX (PS4, PSV), the PAL version of Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water (Wii U) or even some people in this thread to see this).

This game is going to sell 1000's of copies in the US :P

Thats a insanely low amount of copies to stock for a new game though...

I don't know how true this is. I ordered from GameStop with no problem. I feel like I'm being manipulated.

The thing is, if GameStop undershoots their expected demand (like they did), then they lost out on potential revenue. But if they overshoot, then not only did they waste money, but they also have to place it in storage.

this is a case of GameStop thinking the game will sell bad AND them trying to play it safe. It's hard to tell how low the game is going to sell, why not order a very small amount, and order new shipments if the demand is there?

TBH, nobody wants this. I know there are people that do but it really doesn't strike anyone as a mediocre or decent game.

Wrong. No one wants garbage like animal crossing amiibo festival and Mario Tennis 200 U. They could have sold through 50,000 copies of this game.

let's be real here, a game like Devil's Third with its word of mouth, even if distributed widely, had like .01% chance of selling 1/10th of something like Amiibo Festival

that's just reality

I'm holding on to my copy of devils third.

This game will definitely be in demand 10 years from now! :p
