Forums - Gaming - Is the Playstation Partnership the best way to launch new IPs/relaunch old ones?

It seems like the games where the publishers partner with Playstation becomes big sellers despite some of it having issues like metacritic low scores(Destiny), low content(Star Wars:BF) or  downgrades (Watchdogs). Some even like CoD which had problems with series fatigue just got experienced revitalization of their IP. And Bloodborne is selling like a Multiplatform Dark Souls game.

While for MS, any game they touch seemed to go to ruins like Sunset Overdrive and RoTR flopping despite good reviews. While others like Titanfall suffers low player count despite the "sales". I wonder why?

Unfortunately, yes.

I am staggered by how Sony keep selling consoles and publishers keep getting high sales from truely abysmal games. Watch Dogs was terrible, as was Destiny, COD yet for some reason people keep falling for the hype on these multiplatform games.

Any publisher now knows they can release any old pile of crap, have it marketed exclusively with exclusive content for the PS4 and it will sell like hot cakes. Its a very dissapointing trend and I believe this laziness is directly correlated to the lack of quality of these said games. Why put effort into making these games when you know the bundle is going to sell well, regardless of quality or content.

And Titanfall is a different story. Everbody knows you can max out after barely 12 hours on play with ZERO incentive to ''prestige'' or hunt for unlocks.

Quality is subjective, Numbers don't lie.

You are quite right. Numbers like metacritic scores like 4.9 for BF, 6.2 for Watch Dogs and 5.1 for Destiny are very telling indeed.

8.1 for Rise of The Tomb Raider and 7.6 for Sunset overdive are far more impressive.

Why do people even bother releasing games on anything other than ps4. It should have all the games. Why even bother releasing games on Xbox? And nintendo, would be even sillier.

Too bad nobody looked up those graded opinions of a select few on Metacritic and had no actual impact on game sales. All of them.

Is it best to align your game with the console with the largest market share?

Well that is a tricky question. Not.
