"Nintendo fired some staff and hired new developers"
SLIGHTLY believable before this. When you get into wishful thinking, the rumor is automatically proven false.

I hope one day (perhaps after zelda u has been out for awhile) someone at Nintendo reveals the true reasons behind the delay because that would be the kind of insight that I'd find interesting.
Nah. I agree the line about fired employees is not very believable and the timeline regarding the TP remaster in this rumour is likely wrong. I also doubt Aonuma wanted to push out a game that "sucked" and was "boring".
For once I actually believe what they said before; it's delayed because they're expanding it with more ideas. That and making it ready for NX one way or another probably.
There's a logical contradiction here. A different team was working on TPHD before, and the same website leaked this in May. Now if development was nearly finished we have to assume that it was redone quite early on and, if this is the case then it's illogical with the timelines of TPHD and Zelda U to be as described.
Also there's no reason why they couldn't show a trailer, if this is the only issue.
Finally, when someone hires or fires we inevitably here something about it but it's been absolutely silent on that front. Tough to believe.
Some of the logic such as trying to make the world more rich is probably accurate. But anyone could guess that.
Reading through the comments, I agree with those who think that this rumor is false, because Tantalus messes up this theory

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]
It is really hard to fill an open world with life. Xenoblade X likely shares a lot of technology with Zelda (Monolith Soft did a lot of programming for Skyward Sword already) and is lacking content compared to games like Skyrim which has much more to do and many more places to go to in it's world.
| HyrulianScrolls said: I can buy the "moving between dungeons in the big world was boring" part based on what we saw at the game awards 2014. It looked like an awfully barren world at that time. I wouldn't be surprised if the delay was to make the world feel more alive and have things to do since Nintendo still kind of has to wrap their brain around a true open world concept if that's what they're doing. They've yet to do that,so there will be learning curves for them just like with their HD development issues at the beginning of Wii U's life. At the end of the day the bottom line remains the same though: this game is of extreme importance to Nintendo and they aren't going to release it until they feel they can truly deliver on a next gen Zelda experience. I think they will. I really don't see this being another TP or SS where "big changes" were promised and at the end of the day it ended up being really just another great but same ol' Zelda game. I believe they want to do something truly invigorating for the franchise this time, and that is unlikely to be without its hiccups. So I'm sure that's the reason for the delay. On a more specific level though, yes it could be open world issues they needed to sort out IF they truly are going the open world route. |
The days of 20 npc's and 10 -15 sidequests in a zelda game has to come to an end. They should be shooting for over 100 npc's and over 60 sidequests to even compare too the likes of skyrim and the witcher 3. You'll right this is a very important game for nintendo, it is an oppurtunity to show that they've caught up with their rivals.
Iwata and the higher ups took a pay cut to avoid laying people off which makes the rumour even less believable.

WWHD took 9 months, and that's irrelevant. TPHD has been in the works for years.
The rumor don't add a lot. If its true, then is a signal that they are working to fix the mistakes(what is exactly what they said they were doing). If it isn't, them the game is still coming next year anyway.
It's the kind of rumor that grab attention, but have zero impact on anything.
"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."
