Just look at the numbers:

Jurassic World:  $1,668,984,926  worldwide

The Phantom Menace: $1,027,044,677 worldwide back in the day , I don't know the inflation difference.  I can assume SWVII can beat both worldwide.

You know that number for Phantom Menace includes a rerelease right? it didn't break 1 Billion in it's initial release and that was with 16 years of waiting after a beloved original triliogy.

The new one is only 10 years after a hated trilogy so while it's USA will be huge it won't beat JW worldwide.

You do realize that Christmas is the best time for a movie because it gives it long time with little competition. Jan. and Feb. Studios release there crap movie's they know won't do well. Avatar and Titanic both released in this time with not big huge opens but the drought of films helped give them legs and  lots of money. People here are dumb to think just because this movie has more hype than Jurassic that means it will win,example no one was hyped for Titanic and it made a shit ton of money.And  there are 20 films that have made over a billion dollars but only one of them is a Star wars movie, and it had to be rereleased to cross that Mark! So fanboys here need to bump the breaks, this movie will make alot of money because of the drought of movies to come but don't think it will be the biggest film ever. Believe it or not it's a film that caters to a certain crowd and many won't watch a nerdy space film, just look at age of ultron geek out to much you lose some movie goers.

Why do you think that? Jurassic World made 60% of it's total haul outside of the United States, compared to 55% for Revenge of the Sith, which came out long before the emergence of China and some other countries as box office contenders (which are responsible for the success of JW and Furious 7). It's not even going to be close between these two.

I fully expect Force Awakens to become at the very least the second highest grossing movie of all time worldwide, and that's even if it's bad. It already has the best ticket presales of all time by far. The only question is whether or not it's going to challenge Avatar.

 

Edit: Also, Phantom Menace is #15 all-time adjusted for inflation. Jurassic World is #23.

Titanic is the only one of those 20 movies over 1b that was released before the Phantom Menace.

Are you saying Star Wars IN 2015 or Star Wars vs Jurassic World overall? Because Star Wars. Isn't there some backed statement out there saying the movie is on pace to be the highest grossing period based on pre-sells alone?
