Forums - Website Topics - Let's Talk About Censorship

What I find unacceptable about this is not only should posts be looked at one at a time to see if they are over the line, but also the fact I have never seen it done to anyone of the other camps. They get the right to post whatever in wherever. If it's fine, it stays. If it's not, they will get moderated due to that post. A blanket ban on certain subjects, regardless of the content in those posts, is censorship. And at that point, why even have a forum or mod team. Might as well keep each member of each camp in their own sections.

Most of the people who post non stop negative pointless posts are permabanned rather than just told, cop on and post in threads you are interested in seeing succeed rather than in every bad news thread.

Or are you saying that Ethomaz should just be permabanned like the 100s of other people who've been permabanned before on here, or do you actually believe that no fan of the Xbox/Nintendo/PC gaming has ever been banned from these forums? because That is a blanket ban on a lot of subjects, what is being offered to Etho is that he can post if he wants, but to stop the shit posting against MS basically. It's so baffling to me that this is hard to understand, like I said in my post above, after being banned and told to stop going into Xbox related topics he posted 16 of the following 19 posts in Xbox related threads with naturally not positive views in them before being moderated again.

Edit - Surely if someone was on this forum who spent 84% of their time in Sony bashing (I'm just guessing you like Sony because of avatar, sorry if I'm mistaken) in every thread they could find, then you would question why they were on the forum at all, why not just spend at least more than 16% of their time here in the threads of games they are said to like?

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

I'm locking this since it's breaking rule 18, but first, while i wasn't involved in the decision to place these limitations on you, allow me to add my perspective:

Censorship in the context you're describing isn't inherently bad, and has always existed on VGC (along with the majority of forums). The only real difference between you not being aloud to post about Xbox, and simply having to follow the forum's rules, is how broadly that limitation is applied. The end result of 'you aren't aloud to say/do [x]' is the same with both.

Normally, when it becomes clear that a user is completely incapable of not breaking the forum rules, they're perma-banned. When it came to Xbox discussion, that user was you. It didn't matter how often you were moderated, we'd always have to do it again, and it was almost always for the same type of stuff in the same types of discussion. However, instead of the customary perma-ban, a mod decided to try something new and give you what essentially amounts to a 2nd chance with a catch (and to the best of my knowledge you're presently the only user with such a catch).

I understand the point you're trying to make with this thread, which is why i'm posting this reply rather than a short 'shit's now locked, yo', but let's be clear; This 'censorship' was an attempt to avoid having to permanently remove you from VGC as a whole. If you think that's wrong, then you're free to pseudo perma-ban yourself and just not post here anymore. Not many users have gotten that choice.
