Forums - Sony - Things in FF7 you wouldn't mind being changed for FF7R

There were some really random parts in the original that either killed the narrative momentum or just felt totally out of place. One example is that weird mining minigame you have to play before entering that Ancient Forest, or whatever it's called. I fully expected that, most of the railroad sequence, some Gold Saucer stuff, among other things to be cut in a remake. Considering what we know now, it's hard telling what they'll actually keep - aside from the infamous Honeybee Inn sequence, and iconic stuff like Sephiroth walking into fire.

I like the digging mini-game in Bone Village, you can digg up some of the best stuff in the game there.

The overworld for sure. No chibi overworld. I mean, for Ni No Kuni that'd be fine because it was supposed to be a throwback to 90's JRPGS in a way. Since Nomura is here, I expect him to rule that out immediately.

Dude, I've probably beaten the game three times and I never knew this.

The Shinra HQ stairs part is actually great.

Plus, the dialogue is funny.

Barret's ultimate weapon you get there but later on on the game right? I can't trust my memory.

The dialogue is funny but if you run fast you may miss the convo which is annoying.

I suppose you may be asking for something more streamlined like FF13.

I have a feeling it will be open world instead of overworld. Something like what has been shown in FFXV but with our dear already known landmarks.

Either that, or it will be like FF10...

The Shinra HQ stairs are optional by the way, you can take the front door instead.

I can think of two things:

1) Have a proper ending. The cliffhanger ending and huge post-credits time skip was the thing that bugged me most about FFVII. We didn't get anything approaching a proper resolution until Advent Children came along. For the remake we need to see the immediate aftermath of the Meteor incident.

2) More distinction between the player characters. In the original one, any character could use any magic or summon materia, and while there were differences in character progression in stats like strength, magic, etc., pretty much every character was a jack-of-all-trades fighter-mage. This meant that for most of the game you could stick with just the same three characters, because there was no practical need to use any of the others. There needs to be restrictions on who can use what materia and/or greater differences in character stat progression in order to give players some incentive to swap the various characters in and out of their active party.

1) I loved the ending of FFVII. It requires you to remember what was said about the Holy materia though. I liked Advent Children as well.

2) I suppose you are referring to adding jobs.

In the trailer though, you can see Barret and Cloud fighting in their own style now that the game is action oriented. Cloud has his sword and Barret is in charge of the shooting.

I wonder if now that we see how FF7's gameplay is more similar to the initial gameplay of FF15, maybe they changed FF15's gameplay to sort of "give it" to FF7R.

I think I remember that.

It brings a sudden end to the whole venture if I'm not mistaken. xD

It's time to play the game again I see, my memory is slipping a bit.
I just got the version on the PS4, its fantastic, the optional 3x game speed is briljant.
The game goes fast, also no loading times, and the battles go extremely fast.
If you put the battle speed on high and the system on active right at the beginning, its like you have maxed out your speed stats. But now the enemies are also super fast, because every thing is super fast.
Its great for players who have already played the game many times.

I have been thinking on playing the game on my PS2. I pretty much all FFs in their respective cases, including FF7! :D

I always put battle speed at max and the battle "active" as well. When I fight the weapons though, I put it on "wait".
