I was wondering because we really don't know anything about it and still it is supposed to release in early 2016 due to appearing in the Digital Event.

I expected Nintendo to cover us with news regarding it trying to convince us that the game is not that bad or showing what parts of the game were changed to make it more appealing to us but instead they went on total media blackout about it. I personally will never buy the game because it's not the kind of Metroid game that appeals to me, plus I find intolerable that after so many years without any Metroid game they end up with this Spin-off that can hardly be called as a Metroid title but still I'd like Nintendo to try to convince people of it beeing a decent game because if it's sales won't be good I don't see any Metroid game coming our way in the near future...

If you don't know what I'm talking about here's a little recap of what Metroid Prime: Federation Force is:

In June during the NWC it was first shown a totally new game under the name of "Blastball", a 3 vs 3 sci-fi/football game playable in first person for 3DS;

During Nintendo's E3 2015 Digital Event it was announced that "Blastball" is a minigame included in "Metroid Prime: Federation Force", a 4 player co-op game where people need to team up to capture alien monsters and defeat space criminals.

The game right from the start recived a strong backlash from the fans of the Metroid series that furious covered the Game's trailer on YouTube with dislikes (currently it's more than 9 dislikes for each single like) and rage comments as well as creating a petition to delete the game that to this day received more than 20.000 signs.

Later on we found out that the game was developed by Next Level Games, who previously showed artworks for a new Metroid game featuring Samus that was later deleted so that they could develop Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

There isn't much point in trying to persuade people especially Metroid fans that the game is worth a buy, since the would get even more backlash

Rather than stoking the flames, just let it die down...

Hopefully it got cancelled.

I hope they stopped the crap while it was in development. I mean that demo teaser video was so terrible looking, beyond the game mechanics not belonging to the Metroid universe and Samus missing, the graphics looked like N64 era, blah

hopefully they retconned it and started a Metroid Prime project if they haven't already (or really any other Metroid game! a classic Castlevania updated Metroid title for handhelds would be cool too, its been a bit)

I doubt anything happened to it, probably will be show in a Direct early next year.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

If they didn't cancel or dramatically retool it, they are foolhardy.

I still wonder how this game came to be like this? From past artwork it looked like they were making a super metroid game or something. Who the heck would tell them to cancel that and make what we saw at e3? Did Nintendo really think we did not want a proper 2d or 3D game?

They probably are putting it to the side for 2016, or realized the negative reception, and are trying to revamp it.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

They realized it should have been on the Wii U because a game like that would be a lot better on the system.

I hope they release it just to fuck the people that wanted it to be cancelled. Some fans just don't know their damn place, neither understand what would imply cancelling the game.

As for the status of the game, its still in development, but in a very early stage (producer confirmed this at the Threehouse. We'll probably see more in the next ND.

I agree, I find the concept to be good, just bad timed and in the wrong place, a 4 player co-op experience isn't really common on Wii U and even with it's specs they can definitely make a good looking game, plus seeing how Rocket League was well recived makes me wonder how well Blastball alone as it's own thing could have done... I swear, if MP: FF was released on Wii U alongside a proper Metroid Prime Game or a 2.5 Metroid game (even on the 3DS) people would love it...
